Hi! A small mini-mod I created over the weekend: Scenery enhancements for Salzburg-Rosenheim! I was a little bit disappointed how DTG recreated the museum in Freilassing, because I have visited it already two times and so I thought I impove this route a little bit: --------------------------------------------------- Salzburg-Rosenheim Scenery Enhancements Improved Salzburg Hbf with Destination boards and waiting boxes Added ÖBB Announcements to Salzburg Hbf which play randomly Opened Salzburg Hbf Schallmoos via Teleporters, improved buildings there Added lights to the colorful apartments in Salzburg Hbf Improved Salzburg Altstadt & Fortress Hohensalzburg, Added the big cathedral from Salzburg Opened a part of the promenade along the Salzach, with beautiful view to Hohensalzburg - accessible via Salzburg Mülln-Altstadt Added (currently 13) History-Boards where you can learn about landmarks and other things! Added lights to Salzburg Europark Rebuilt the Swedish furniture store "IDEAL" in Salzburg Taxham Europark Improved Freilassing Station with a statue of the BR 144 and buildings near the station buildings Improved Lokpark Freilassing a lot, together with a model of a Köf II (Some really obviously buildings got forgotten by DTG - great job!) Added planes flying over Freilassing station Made Salzburg Hbf main station building accessible. It doesn´t look beautiful inside, but I tried to enhance as best as possible Improved ground textures at Lokmuseum Freilassing Opened the river bank of the Salzach up to the Müllner Steg-Bridge - and enhanced everything there, accessible via the opened area at Salzburg Mülln-Altstadt Added cows and tractors all over the route Added a missing church to Bad Endorf Added a hot air balloon near Hufschlag Replaced all Austrian Station signs with new and more detailed ones, also added orange arrows and exit signs Salzburg-Rosenheim 2024 Update Pack (Scenery Enhancements very recommended) Added the big glas building at Salzburg Hbf Added some new tracks to Salzburg Hbf Added station clutter like benches, PIS boards, signs, etc. to Salzburg Liefering Added a construction site to Salzburg Taxham, near the swedish furniture store^^ Added many retaining walls to the way from Saalach to Freilassing Painted Freilassing station building white Added platform 96 and 97 to Freilassing, although not working Added a construction scene to Freilassing station ------------------------------------------------ See pictures below (Outdated!): (I couldn´t get pictures for the plane, because the editor crashed in PIE, but we will see if it works, otherwise I need to update it) This enhancements are finished, but unfortunately I can´t cook them - hopefully the official editor updates come quick!
I see you added the masts and paths to the entrance of the Lokwelt Freilassing, but would you mind placing down some of the signals and signs we also have in TSW as well? I've got a few pictures myself and there's also this nice Google Street View panorama And also this little Wn 7 signal (hope we have that asset in TSW) around 47.83764064341669, 12.979011796336966 Also perhaps check out this guide I wrote for cooking or join the Train Sim Community Discord where I (and others too I'm sure) would gladly help you out getting that cooked
Looks great. I've been past there a few times but sadly never visited it. I see some of the static rolling stock there is missing now. did you change any tracks too? I am planning on making an updated timetable for the route and it would be great to see whenever the editor gets ready for sharing stuff if your changes would work with mine. I really want to give freilassing the shunting and freight movement it deserves. idk what dovetail did but there are some weird movements there rn.
Amazing work, Freddie! Scenery enhancements to routes like that are absolutely great, I wonder why (almost?) noone else in the time the Editor is out had the idea or released a scenery enhancement pack. I had the idea to do a little fun nonsense with the Dresden-Riesa route but because of time problems and I didn't quite like how it turned out plus the rescrictions we have with the Scenery Overlay System, I gave up that idea. BTW: If at sometime the Editor allows us to do, it would be cool to add the miniature railway at the Torfbahnhof Rottau/Grassau. You can see it in this post of mine in the Salzburg-Rosenheim discussion thread.
I really do fail to undestand what is possible and what not, so, sorry for asking, however, one thing I am most frustrated with is the lack of reflective signs on the newer routes. Driving at night without HUD is basically not possible. Would it be possible to add something like that with the current system that is available to us, using official or unofficial editor or through some other means? If the frustration gets big enough, who knows, I meight strart modding stuff that is important to me as well
Best is I just quote DTG on this from their PC Editor FAQ: What that in clear words means, is that you cannot change or remove anything (no tracks, no signals, no buildings or other scenery elements like vegetation or landscape). What you can do is basically just place some assets on top of the scenery like for example some cherries on a cake (eventually you also can hide/cover a smaller asset by a bigger one), but you cannot modify anything underneath. Also with regard to the signals you mentioned, you also can't add some new into the signalling system, since this system is very complicated and even breaks if you want to edit the tracks in the production process. Therefore some of us even decided building the signal system only after you have placed all tracks.
Ah, sorry, misunderstanding, I was actually talking about the linesite signs, not the signals. On the original DRA route DTG incorporated reflective signs, which made them earlier visible when you approached them in the dark. So, in theory this would be possible. Question is if this could be changed to all signs in question at once (ie, can I change all Hektometer signs at the same time) or do I have to change hundreds of them one by one? Sorry for OT, we can have this discussion elswhere as well, however, I think this may be interesting for others as well?!
I would also advocate for continuing this discussion here to show people how hard it is to do scenery enhancements and how great the work on what FreddieTheSheppard is working is. I wanted to give a bit better feedback with that, so I've opened just the DRA map and did some experiments and found out some weird things. 1. Thing: Indeed, I was able to select the hectometer boards when going into Network Edit Mode and then the Hectometer boards submenu. I cannot delete them, however I'm able to place them off their current location (maybe somewhere far beside the tracks where nobody sees them): 2. Thing: Now you even could use said hectometer boards tool, select a piece of track and place them on your own. For your question: No, you can't do all at once, but the tool should help you placing them one by one (theoretically at least). However, my knowledge with the hectometer boards tool is fairly limited (used it for the very first time now) and it seems that the hectometer boards spawn a few meters far off the tracks initially. Don't know why, but I just got it to the right position. Also it's weird that the boards (neither the ones I created nor the ones DTG placed) have the numbers on them. Probably a blueprint does that later on?!? So to conclude this, it even could be possible for you to swap the current hectometer boards with the old reflective signs. Edit: 3. Thing: You can move or even delete masts and gantries with the OHLE tool. And even add new ones: 4. Thing: You can even add and delete pieces of tracks (including changing the node height), however this clears the signal table.
To be honest, I am not actually sure it was implemented on the reincarnation of DRA for TSW4. The only route I am sure it was implemented with the new lighing system is KWG and here only Hectometer signs with a full kilometer on it (ie. 82.0), which is according to real life as well. I seem to remember that it was mentioned somewhere that it is actually an additional step needed, to make a sign reflective. So, I would assume that it may even be possible to make the existing sign reflective. And it makes sense DTG is not doing it any more, as it costs additional labour to implement it... even though it was such a great addition to the game! Thanks for trying it out. I may actually open a seperate thread on this topic. Maybe someone stumbles across it who knows what to do
When I return on the overlay map, I will implement these, but for now I want to continue work on the Almtalbahn. I´ve also thought of adding a custom scenario, something police-related, because of...Rosenheim (I think some will know what I mean!)
So, as I already said in my Almtalbahn thread, I share today my newest additions to the enhancement mod: I created now the two missing locomotives at Freilassing, the BR 144 opposite of Freilassing station and the Köf II at Lokmuseum Freilassing (which also got a huge overhaul) The models are obviously really basic, but I like them and to have them here is better than having nothing here Hope you enjoy the pictures!
Today, I have GREAT news for you regarding the Salzburg-Rosenheim Enhancement Pack: I have now added the typical ÖBB Announcements to Salzburg Hbf (voice by Chris Lohner, if you have ever been at an Austrian station, you recognize her voice immediatly) They play in a random order, in a timespan of 15 to 50 seconds and are in total 19 different announcements. With that, Salzburg Hbf really feels like in reality and like a ÖBB station. I also made small improvements like adding waiting houses, billboard signs and the most important to get more of a ÖBB feeling...Destination Display boards. DTG somehow managed to forget these, so I added them too. Have a look: What you can also see here, is one of the many history boards I added. In each of them, my Fursona Freddie is explaining something special about the town or other landmarks that you maybe know from the route. Until now, I made 7, placed from Salzburg Hbf to Freilassing...only an eagle-eye will be able to find them all!
Hello all together! I just had the feeling of "do more" and improved this enhancement pack more - the results of this week: I made Salzburg Hbf´s entrance "Schallmoos" exporable! I added lights to the colorful apartment in Salzburg Hbf! And I improved Salzburg Altstadt, especially the fortress Hohensalzburg, A LOT. If you want to see (how terrible) the fortress looked before, you will definitely want to have this here as a replace In addition, I made a small area of the promenade along the river Salzach explorable, from where you now get the ultimative Salzburg-Sightseeing feeling (I guess) This will be accessible via the stairs down from Salzburg Mülln-Altstadt. (I´m not sure if the lights at Hohensalzburg & cathedral will be visible at night in game, as the editor vanishes the lights when you go away (Render distance problem I guess)) ---------------------------------- So, I also made a small update of "what´s improved?" list: Improved Salzburg Hbf with Destination boards and waiting boxes Added ÖBB Announcements to Salzburg Hbf which play randomly (I´m not sure IF this releases as I still wait for permission to use the announcements!) Opened Salzburg Hbf Schallmoos via Teleporters Added lights to the colorful apartments in Salzburg Hbf Improved Salzburg Altstadt & Fortress Hohensalzburg, Added the big cathedral from Salzburg Opened a part of the promenade along the Salzach, with beautiful view to Hohensalzburg - accessible via Salzburg Mülln-Altstadt Added (currently 7) History-Boards where you can learn about landmarks and other things! Added lights to Salzburg Europark Rebuilt the Swedish furniture store "IDEAL" in Salzburg Taxham Europark (Originally, I used the one from Luzern-Sursee, but I now built one myself, which looks more like the Salzburgish one) Improved Freilassing Station with a statue of the BR 144 and buildings near the station buildings A̶d̶d̶e̶d̶ ̶a̶ ̶p̶l̶a̶n̶e̶ ̶o̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶F̶r̶e̶i̶l̶a̶s̶s̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶s̶t̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ (I deleted this because it caused the game crashing - I will have a look into alternatives) Improved Lokpark Freilassing a lot, together with a model of a Köf II (Some really obviously buildings got forgotten by DTG - great job!) Some ideas that I maybe have a look into in the future... Improving Museum Torfbahnhof (which could be tricky due DTG placing a lot of unideal buildings and roads instead of narrow-gauge tracks) Adding a scenario with turntable demonstrations in Freilassing Adding a scenario with cops in Rosenheim (Some German TV-watchers will know what I mean) Adding a plane over Freilassing station (I bespoke that already) If you have an idea that could/need to be improved, feel free to tell me - but I won´t guarantee I can do that
New updates this week: Got the plane spline system working! Made Salzburg Hbf main station building accessible. It doesn´t look beautiful inside, but I tried to enhance as best as possible Improved ground textures at Lokmuseum Freilassing Added more history boards all over the route, current count: 13 Improved Buildings opposite of Salzburg Hbf Schallmoos entrance Opened the river bank of the Salzach up to the Müllner Steg-Bridge - and enhanced everything there Added a missing church to Bad Endorf Added a hot air balloon near Hufschlag Added cows and tractors along the whole route I also got the permission for the Salzburg Hbf announcements, making them a secured feature of this pack! Some pictures: See the first thread post for a updated list!
Hi! It's been a while since I shared any updates on the Salzburg-Rosenheim Scenery Enhancements, but today I can share something rather unexpected^^ The Salzburg-Rosenheim 2024 Update Pack This is another Scenery overlay pack, but this time, it adds all buildings and other stuff that got added in the last 11 years in reality. It isn't possible to edit the already existing scenery, but I added as much as I can, check out the list: Added the big glas building at Salzburg Hbf Added some new tracks to Salzburg Hbf (Note: These aren't functional, only for decoration and I had to work on hiding some buffers) Added station clutter like benches, PIS boards, signs, etc. to Salzburg Liefering (Again, I can't delete the original construction assets) Added a construction site to Salzburg Taxham, near the swedish furniture store^^ Added many retaining walls to the way from Saalach to Freilassing Painted Freilassing station building white Added platform 96 and 97 to Freilassing, although not working Added a construction scene to Freilassing station (I'm unsure if this will stay because of the Navmesh behaviour of passengers) If you know changes that happened to the route since 2013 that didn't get covered here, please tell me! Note: This will be a seperate Mod from the scenery enhancements, that are very much recommended to enhance the route! Speaking of - I made some tiny changes to the scenery enhancements: Changed the old plane to a new Airbus one Added many new buildings at Salzburg Hbf Schallmoos that look more Salzburgish ÖBB signs will now have orange arrows & exit symbols Here some pictures:
Regarding editing existing scenery: with Blueprints it's possible to destroy existing Actors at runtime from a SST (have done that before). The same should be possible with Components of existing Actors. Have you looked into this yet?
Hey Freddie glad to see that you are still working on the enhancments. Can't wait to see the full result. Because you mentioned it, is the Salzburg-Rosenheim Scenery Enhancements Pack out already, or did you mean that you will need it later? Greetings
I know, editing things within SST is possible, but on the cooked route (ST levels) I can't do anything. No, unfortunately it isn't out yet. It is already finished, I only implements some orange arrows to the ÖBB signs today and then I would have everything I wanted to do for the moment, but cooking isn't still working and I want to do it the official way, because I just don't get how trainsim.cz's mod works The original scenery enhancements aren't required in a technical way, but changes coming from that aren't included in the 2024 Update Pack, so you wouldn't have the basic changes I made (e.g. the Announcements at Salzburg Hbf, the plane over Freilassing, the improved Lokmuseum at Freilassing,...)
Ah, thats too bad. Maybe you could read into the trainsim.cz mod again and try to get it to work? I mean others are able to do it, so why shouldn't you?
I've tried it a few months ago in the TSW4 PC Editor, but it just didn't cook like it should. Maybe I give the new version a try
In case you didn't already, i can suggest to join the TSC discord and ask in the modding section. There are some really good people there.
So, as I maybe already mentioned a bit, I worked on the Austrian platform signs to look more like the real ones and it grew a bit larger than I thought into replacing every Austrian station sign with new ones and also adding some, as well as adding the S-Bahn symbol to Salzburg Mülln-Altstadt, Aiglhof and Taxham/Europark. Here the results, that can be mainly seen at Salzburg Hbf: (It's really funny to see some obvious platforms & other stuff being described again and again^^) I'm now also looking into patching the editor in order to cook this pack, hopefully I will be more successful this time^^
I'm sorry, I forgot to update this threadIn fact, I already was able to cook it and bring it into the game^^ It will release on Saturday on TrainSimCommunity.com together with a few other reskins and mods In the meantime, I will produce a trailer and get all promotion stuff ready
That looks great! I will definetely add the SRM scenery enhancements to the list of suggested mods when my timetable is done.
The EP is finally out now, check the proper thread out here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/salzburg-rosenheim-scenery-enhancements-out-now.86869/
Very well done. I really like the FreddieTheShepperd billboard at Freilassing Now I'm looking even more forward for a new timetable on SRM
Very very cool! I’m not on PC so I unfortunately can’t enjoy it in-game, but loved looking at all the images and TSP’s video. When I visited Salzburg a few months ago, we walked to the Mülln-Altstadt station along the river, so having part of that promenade now accessible in-game is very nice. A question: Is the track of the Chiemgaubahn (branching off the route near Prien) fully laid in the game? Always wondered about this since the branch isn’t that long at all (so wouldn’t be a lot of work to add some rural scenery). Would’ve been a great addition to the route to add some variety, but unfortunately DTG didn’t do it.
Yes it is, but DTG placed trees and houses wildly over it, so enhancing that would look weird, the same with Salzburg industrial areas.
