So, I was looking on Steam store, and noticed the regional and other bundles show a TSW4 priced at 19,99 euros. I happen to own the Dresden Riesa from TSW2 days, but it won't allow me to buy the "German regional edition" at only 19,99. Clever. There doesn't seem to be a way to buy this magical "19,99 euro edition", so where does it come from?
Yes, this is funny. You can only purchase TSW4 as part of a bundle, but not alone for the indicated price of 19,99€. I guess it has something to do with that Steam seems to require a price for the core game which they can then use to calculate the cost of the bundle and to show that the core game itself also has a value in the bundle.
If I could buy it for that price, I would. The only thing I feel I'm missing out on with TSW3 is the Br111 and the cost for TSW4 + that DLC simply isn't justified.
Salzburg-Rosenheim wasn't already out then but the Festival of Rail discounts at beginning of February for TSW4 were absolutely insane - was it 70% off all bundles if I remember correctly? But if it's a consolation for you, I didn't caught them either and bought TSW4 long before because of the Editor. I should have waited a bit longer. However, I would wait for the next sale (maybe eastern?) and get TSW4 on its next huge discount. For a discount on Salzburg-Rosenheim you probably have to wait a bit (Maintalbahn was 25% reduced in the last sale yet) but maybe christmas this year?
Yeah, the next major Steam sale is just a bit over a week away: https://steamdb.info/sales/history/ TBH, I didn't even check TSW4 during last month's sale, this 19,99 thing was just something that caught my eye. I'm still thinking if it would be better to just wait until summer/fall to see if there's a TSW5 coming.
I would say it's worth to get it on a huge sale before TSW5 get dropped, because of the three routes (Voralberg, Antelope Valley and ECML) coming with it. No so a fan of ECML but Vorarlberg and Antelope Valley justifying getting at least the standard version for around 20€. I also thought about purchasing TSW2 on discount for getting the DLCs with it but unfortunately I was too late and realized that I could have got 3 DLCs for the price of 1 just way later.
There is usually a DTG Easter sale, so anybody wanting to grab discounts on bundles or other TSW/TSC stuff, just hang-on another couple of weeks. DTG are a bit like SCS, World of Leather and other furniture stores.... They have sales every 5 minutes (unless you own an Xbox).
even if TSW 5 is a thing in the future dont forget your TSW 1,2,3 and 4 purchases would port over so if it is saving you a lot of money and routes you want i would grab it.
