Hi, all. I’m learning to use PZB as my favorite routes to run are German ones. I’m getting pretty good at it! And usually if I fail and get a Zwangsbremsung I know why it happened. (Usually I just don’t get under 85 fast enough on a 1000 Hz magnet.) Every now and then, though, I’ll get one and I have no idea why. I think it would be great to get a list of mistakes I made after a run so I can learn what I did wrong. It would sure be a great help in learning. Thanks.
Few reasons I can think for PZB penalty of the top of my head is 1. did not get down below 85/70/55kmph when needed (1000hz) 2. Did not acknowledge signal and or speed restriction as required 3.did not get down below 45/35/25kmph when needed (500hz) 4. did not get down below 25kmph when close approaching a red light 5. did not use PZB override where required 6. breached restrictive monitoring speed restriction 7. Did not get down to new speed restriction fast enough or at all
For sure these times are one of those things but in a couple of instances I saw no signal, no speed limit below 85 km/h, and nothing else obvious. Clearly I missed something and it’d be great if I could find out what it was.
On which line did you get those issues? Maintalbahn for example has got some pretty weird (and wrong) PZB behaviour at places.
That sounds like GPAs to me (more about them in my signature). About your suggestion, the locos with MFDs (displays for speedo and PZB) already do something like that: You’ll notice a small yellow box with text in it when you get a penalty brake application. It can say one of these things: “WT nicht rechtzeitig betätigt” You didn’t acknowledge a 1000Hz magnet - you either missed a signal or a GPA for 80/90km/h “Geschwindigkeitsüberschreitung” or something similar. You either didn’t slow down fast enough under 1000Hz monitoring or exceeded one of the PZB speed limits (55/70/85 under monitoring, 40 in restricted, the ones for 500Hz monitoring, or 105/125/165 in normal use). “2000Hz Beeinflussung” You either ran past a red signal (which shouldn’t happen in TSW since that is game over) or far more likely a GPA for speeds between 100-150km/h caught you out.
