There's two main sides ergo two prevalant opinions regarding this subject..

Those that have all or the majority of the requirements so don't care about the list (luckily I'm in that category) and will likely be more positive in their opinions of the content.

And those that are missing requirements whether due to being unable or unwilling to purchase said payware items, who will care about the list and likely be more negative regarding their opinions of the content.

Just to be awkward I would have been in a third category if I hadn't of had any or many of the requirements, I'd have just gone out and quietly bought them as and when I could because I really really wanted this enhancement.

Forgive me... am I correct in assuming you need a subscription to ATS then you have to buy Chat Moss or the 185???

Yes you need to purchase the 32.99 subscription, the chat moss route, the cambridge to Peterborough route, the 185 are all extra purchases not included in the subscription but i believe you get a discount on any purchases if you have a sub?

Yes - 50% discounts on those routes and the 185.
I can't believe that there is such a high percentage of posts on this thread from people moaning. This route is a brilliant detailed piece of work and we should be applauding the people who have spent hours of their time dedicated to producing this for the community for no personal gain.

Took a few images tonight from the route, really enjoyed the run. Did not have any issues anyway.

I actually agree in principle with Rob here. A designer is allowed to use whatever assets they want for a route being made. There is a catch-22, however, in that using a whole bundle of assets from a couple dozen routes is going to mean that it will be next to impossible for, ahem, less rich users to be able to play everything as intended, or possibly even play it at all if core assets for the route require multiple routes. The less stock is used, sure, the less realistic it might be, but the more people who can enjoy and play scenarios on it. If they want to turn around and sell the route, they would need to obtain permission to use the assets in a product for sale, which can then all be bundled with the route legally as a single download when purchased. This would be a valid complaint for routes like Chat Moss, where you have to buy the route but have to buy other payware packs to use it. That's where I have an issue personally.

I for one applaud the makers of this route, especially given it's a freeware route.

I see there are still problems with floating OHLE with no pylon support like on other routes (not sure if it's the ATS OHLE pack or something else that causes this)

It does look like a good route upgrade though

Incorrect you DO NOT NEED to purchase a subscription. You can purchase the above mentioned routes and train without a subscription. The subscription will give you a discount on then but a subscription is not required to purchase payware.

It’s funny how you agree finally that a developer can use whatever assets the want. Your many complaints over certain 3rd party developers and payware scenarios etc is they developers use to much stock lol

Not sure if it's been mentioned already but it's only right now you need an active ATS sub to gain the required common library, those who can hang on a little while will soon be able to gain the common library with the regularly purchased routes that ATS offer, I believe they are in the process of updating these, I have no idea on what sort of time frame though.

Well you do if you want to play this route, thats what I was referring to.
You're right that you don't need to purchase the subscription in general to get the others but I was assuming the question was relating to this route in particular so apologies to ntypeman if i got my wires crossed a bit there with what was being asked, the bit about the 185 was just clarifying that you needed to purchase it.

Just a heads up. The route seems to work fine without the JT Southwestern Expressway route installed. I don't have that, but thought I'd try the route anyway. Works just fine, so no idea what assets it needs that route for, but it's not essential.

[edit] Just seen Peter's post re: this route, and it's only required for Barton Hill Sheds, so I'll not rush to get the JT route... just wait for it to be on sale one day.

Thanks for the comment but if you had read my post I was not complaining about the route but some of the assets, like this Bardon Hill Depot, when the default version could have been used.

And is your real name LOL as you end a lot of comments with it?

Just to double check... there are no quick drive scenarios for this route, right? I don't need to rebuild my scenario DB?

When I ran the route thru TS Tools it did show one QD Scenario - no other info on it though.

Hmmm... nothing here. The route isn't even listed on the QD menu. I'll rebuild the database later and see if it fixes it. Thanks.

I don't know why you tend to assume everything negative in any way is a complaint. You did this with Peter, too (when asking how Peter would complain about a route if he just swapped items). At most, it's a sad moan about not being able to play something properly. This game has a way of causing people to be unable to play a scenario because every single thing used is attempted to be loaded and you are told about missing stuff if you try to load, and missing assets of milk bottles just decrease your enjoyment of any route. But I've always said people can use what they want to make stuff as realistic as possible. I will still argue that this will mean a general smaller audience, which is a negative element. You could easily require assets from 20 routes in a custom route, but you will have a very small percentage of people to play it; meanwhile, using maybe three or four routes might result in ten times the people playing it. It's a balance that some developers do not manage very well. This applies to routes AND scenarios. It's a valid criticism in this game. It's easy to forget if you have everything and are in a position to buy everything as it comes out, and can financially support things (i.e. ATS subscription fees) on a regular basis. Many can't. And you have to be nice to them, too.

We can be critical about something without "complaining". You need to change your view of the world. That's your biggest issue.

Thanks. I don't really play QDs, but I was just curious, as sometimes that's a sign that you need to do the annoying scenario database purge and rebuild thing.

Update out for this fantastic route.

Important Note: If you've installed previous versions of the route, please take the following steps to ensure a clean update:

    1. Delete Folder: Navigate to your RailWorks\Content\Routes directory and locate the folder named "b810ea59-18cb-4e81-829b-e72aad5a88ac." Delete this folder to remove any unwanted tiles and ensure a fresh installation.

    2. Backup Scenarios: Prior to updating, don't forget to back up your custom scenarios. This will safeguard your progress and ensure a seamless transition.

Hey, sorry for responding a while after you'd posted this, but I'm unfamiliar with TSTools and I was wondering if you'd either be able to provide a list of which items each requirement provides for the route (like you've done with the 3 examples in your post), or to explain to me how I'd go about doing that using TSTools. It looks like a great route, but I can't justify spending too much money on it, so this would be a great help. Many thanks :)

    Do you have TS Tools?
And are you talking about this route or another one you wish to check?
