Is there a way I can find out if a DTG route has been updated, and has a changelog ? I prefer not to scroll through tons of articles on Dovetail Live to find it. I tried Steam DB but it yielded no results other than what looks like Steams own changes and changes to store presentation images and videos.
SteamDB is your only reliable source. What got changed is listed in the depot history view. Each DLC is tied to one or more depots. Just checked Springfield for update history for another thread... If you check the parent app (Train Simulator Classic, 24010) you can browse the history. Each DLC has an ID you can click to get to the according file depot. The "dlcfixes" tag is what's relevant for you. The last change was related to the CR400BF pack. (Note what you are calling DLC is called a "sub" internally, consisting of packaged "apps". Each "app" in turn is tied to a file "depot". For example ECML P'boro is a "sub" that contains the route "app" plus the "Hitachi 801" app. Your DLC manager operates on the "App" level, means unticking ECML will not uninstall the 801. When a depot is updated, it gets a new manifest ID, as well as the TSC buildid will be incremented. Your Steam client will see that you are not up to date by checking these ids with your local appmanifest (kind of Steam's Registry per game) and notice the differences, triggering an update of the according depot automatically (of course only if it is installed via DLC manager tick)
Spikee1975 Thank you, your post helped me figure out what to look for. I was specifically looking for any updates on the Strasbourg route to see if the issues mentioned in the Steam comments was adressed, unfortunately they were not as I really wanted that route, but I'm not going to buy it if it's broken.
Someone claiming it would be broken does not mean it's broken. I've got it and I like it (and it's my home route). Can't see anything "broken" (which translates to me as being unplayable.)
olsbyn From your account age, I suspect you have seen a fair share of everything. People tend to exaggerate for a number of reasons. I have yet to come across a truly problematic route or loco. Sure, there can be problems, but... most of them are just annoyances. Just skimmed through the negative reviews, and they're helpful in pointing out stuff, but nothing seems to be affecting playing much. Unless your wish is 100% accuracy, in which case I would recommend removing TSC from your account to avoid further meltdowns. Generally, DTG doesn't update old content, just occasionally. I would as a PM, but I'm not. It is understandable as they have a massive collection, most of which they only published. And they have policies for rigorous testing, which is a response to many uncaught mistakes.
I have run a Quick Drive from Karlsruhe a few times but it stops at Rastatt Sud where the local lines split off. The player train gets held at the junction waiting for a northbound service that does not move.
The most broken thing I can think of is I remember there were some bugs with the included ICE or TGV (don't remember which) other than that it seemed generally fairly decent by DTG standards. The route begs for a community enhancement but is a good starting point for said enhancements (and there've already been enhancements released.)
The route begs for an extension to Freiburg to close the Rhine Valley gap. As I know many of the places along that route, I can say it's very well done and highly recognizable. Tried to make a thread some time ago... https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...wn-stations-post-your-comparison-shots.78114/
triznya.andras You are right, I have seen a fair share of bugs in routes as I also own all the TSW games..I don't know why though, I always end up uninstalling and buying a TSC route as comfort..it's my box of ice cream :p
