Because it costs so many time to get those Dutch routes working, you have to buy much and have to visit dangerous sites. Maybey Railworks could make an own Dutch route (well finished, because it's a hobby), for example the Amsterdam service with ICE 3, because we got that service already with the Cologne - Dusseldorf route, so maybey you can continue the line to Amsterdam to finish the service, it's not so far away because the ICE may drive 160 km if he could over the Dutch Railways. The Amsterdam ICE has different destinations over time, Basel, Frankfurt, and I thought also Berlin sometimes, so that changes.

Dangerous? No site is dangerous if you have good antivirus and make sure it's actively scanning

Indeed, content available on TreinPunt.NL is always checked for strange files, links in manuals, illegal/unnecessary files as per repaint rules and such. More so than on any other website that hosts content like Rail-Sim.de or custom sites for stuff on weebly or free content hosting sites. If you happen to find any, just us the build-in report function and we will take a look at it.

Indeed, it can take many hours to get a route working, but that is part of the hobby.
Also due to what content is used by the creator, some use just one asset from a pack because it looks better and adds to the installation time. But more recently released routes on there use less and less stuff.
Most of the time you just need the ChrisTrains, Coha, Micheal Catenery (free, not payed as some UK ones) assets and then some payware routes, most Dutch routes use the same one(s) so it 'pays' out to buy the needed ones.
Just read the manual first on what you will need.

When you install one route, it gets more easy to install the next one, as you can tick-off about half or more of the requirements list.
The lesson is, if you want a Dutch free route, invest time to install one, additional ones get easier.

so is there a way to get an extension for the Koln-Dusseldorf route where it goes to Amsterdam? how would that work? Even though they did it for Frankfurt to Karlsruhe.

It can't go on steam as there is no Dutch signaling on Steam so it could be a seperate route or extension. But that route to Dusseldorf so old, very old. It has it quirks for speed limits, was build in a time there was not a fully working PZB (or at all) and the scenery is very 'dark' and sparse. It was build for another time.

Best thing to do, as no one is creating that entire route, to learn some route building and build it yourself if you want the entire route.
But if you don't have experience yet in route building, there are some good video's on YouTube but also, it would take many many years and effort to create it. Don't underestimate it.

There are parts of the route that are available on different routes. You can drive from Emmerich to Zevenaar on 'Betuweroute Beta 1', then Zevenaar to Arnhem on ''t Oosten van Nederland' and then from Arnhem via Utrecht to Breukelen on ''t Hart van Nederland'. So most of the route is there, you can do scenario in parts.

Update the Koln Dusseldorf route and then make an extension to Amsterdam. This can be done. Things like the U-Bahn Frankfurt that have information systems I thought could not be done until I have looked at some of the video so to me a extension to Amsterdam could be done. I hope someone can figure it out as it would be neat and being a fan of the high speed routes. I would buy it.

I think you might be asking the wrong people.

The Cologne-Dusseldorf Route was made by Aerosoft in 2012 and DTG would not have access to any of the models used on this line apart from Koln Hbf as they have the version from the West Rhein route.
As Aerosoft would hold the rights to the original line DTG would not be able to modify the route for profit.

Going over the border in to Holland would mean DTG having to create new rolling stock, stations and other buildings for the route.

It was mentioned above about Amsterdam and the Koln Dusseldorf route is what the ICE trains would use to come through and go to other cities like Frankfurt or even all the way to Munich. It would be neat I think if they could somehow do it as there is a real route on the DB site that takes the ICE trains from Amsterdam to Dusseldorf and then on to Munich. This would be a long route but extensions can be used if the rights and everything are figured out or maybe Aerosoft creates it and then puts it out. Just some thoughts. Thanks Peter for your input on this as well.
