I do think even the most critical would have to just appreciate the bridge as it does look stunning. I have already mentioned the other issues so I will refer you to my previous post on that. I just think that saying the devs should cry themselves to sleep is way to far over the line and is too personal. No means defending the inaccuracies, but being fair.
Just to add why are rivet using really bad foliage materials? All the grass and trees are the same really bright green, flat, and lifeless. The latest routes have much better looking trees and grasses. The trees don't appear to have any AO either. Seen BVE routes from 20 years ago look better. Rivet took this iconic route, botched it and we'll never see it in it's full glory.
I think if I'm being critical, this stream felt last minute. Respectfully I don't think there was the best sales pitch for their products. I do think this needs more time in the oven
Maybe I’m just being too hopeful but I have a feeling they have shown an early build by mistake… Rivet / DTG need to address it asap if that is the case…
I have Playstation vouchers coming my way and this was one of the routes I was going to use them on. But, hey ho, I’m not buying it yet even with it being free. It’s just not good enough for a full price purchase and it would be a bit of an insult to my mother-in-law to spend the voucher on something not up to scratch. But there is hope, it could get better. Maybe the correct build isn’t so bad, maybe they will delay the release or do a MML style fix job post release and maybe the 158 saves the timetable, along with some freight in a patch. Come on Rivet, you can do it. You have to feel sorry for Jasper, even with him being left in the position of having to say “I don’t know” to so many questions in every stream, but when he is left to try and sell this to us with a wrong build for the preview, the most dodgy scenery anyone has ever seen and some disappointing answers that he does know to give us, you just hope he can get through the next few days as he gives his bosses our feedback. I’m hoping that after this releases (and let us hope it is delayed for improvements or gets quick patches) and the 158 comes out it can be a good route, and I will gladly buy it then, but I’m not using my vouchers for this now. Possibly Bernina but not this. But for the live stream, first impressions do matter so it’s best to get some ducks in a row before going live.
I do think Rivet seem to get an unjust level of negative attention. Some of the comments in this thread alone have been pretty nasty.
I agree that the route needs a lot of work done, but making personal insults and threats is absolutely not the way to go about this.

The state this route is in, the negative reception is not unjust or unwarranted. Personal attacks are obviously never ok though.
Ah yes, I'm "soft" because I think making bomb threats and telling devs they should cry themselves to sleep over a video game is wrong.
Rarely watch streams as I rarely buy full price routes but I was looking forward to this and it just seemed off. Everything just seemed to be a hard no, no railtour, no freight, no boats on the forth, no planes etc. The bridge looked amazing but overall it just seems like something is missing. Jasper said there was no issues on last Gen consoles but i'm not confident as to what it would look like on my PS4! I'm a little gutted tbh.
Agreed. I'm all for VALID criticism and feedback, but hurling insults at the devs is not the way to go about it and may end up nullifying the amount of people taking your criticisms seriously!
What makes the timetable worse is that at least 12 of the Class 170 services are shunt moves at Glenrothes. Taking into considering the Class 385 layered services which are 5 minutes a piece…we have around 79 out the 164 services which are 5 minutes or less…

Not only are there only 97 services, but 11 of those are 2 minute shunt only services followed by a few more 1 minute shunt services.. how can just over 80 Class 170 services for an entire 24 hour timetable across the ENTIRE ROUTE even get allowed to be released? It's beyond belief and i cannot believe this is what we get, i really can't

Oof, these replies are getting very heated But, there is a difference between constructive criticism, and criticism of a product, and personal or direct attacks towards a third party, something in which is completely uncalled for, and just horrible to do. Critisising a route is something anyone can do, they can voice their own opinions on It, you can think whatever about a route or product, however, there is no need for things such as attacks, or something more dangerous towards development companies.

ANYWAY! Getting back on topic and throwing in some positivity among this muck coloured storm, I asked during the stream if WSP (Wheel Slip Protection) was actually functional on the 170. To my surprise it ACTUALLY IS! It's things like this players want to see more of. More simulation to our trains. Not having moths flying around station lights at night!

Thanks for trying to lighten the mood up. It’s a thing that should always work. But it doesn’t excuse anything else and don’t even try to say The route is amazing and justify the price. Because it’s horrendous.
Well well well, watched about 15 mins of the stream and I can’t say I’m impressed, terrible timetable, terrible scenary, DTG you need to sit down with Rivet and either say get better or get lost, this isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last and it’s not acceptable, I shall stick with goblin line over this mess
So the preview build had 164 services The "leaked" build has 169. I think they might have used the wrong build, unless they removed 5 services?
I've just finished watching the stream. I'm in two minds. The 170 seems good but I am disappointed with quite a lot of the scenery and the general lack of polish. I'm going to wait and see what happens when it's released (hopefully the correct build!), watch some videos, wade through this forum (!) and see where that takes me. I guess what's possibly showing here is the difference between populating a route of 13 miles and one of 50-odd.
Rivet should not be allowed to make any more uk routes sorry. Almost every single uk route rivet has laid their hands on has been a massive dud. Look at WCL, poor scenery, broken train, the Edinburgh to Glasgow that has an incorrect timetable and weird train sounds and now this… honestly they should just not do UK routes if we keep getting this absolute trash. And for the people defending rivet remember that they are charging 30 pounds for his rubbish, the same 30 pounds that would get you classics like BML, SEHS and Blackpool branches. DTG should not be letting 3rd parties charge for content like this. This is £5 quality not £30 quality. It’s a shame because we got an absolutely amazing route the other day. Thank god the 170 is at least decent, that’s the only not negative thing
Just a pity that the folk at Rivet and DTG haven't got the bottle to come on here and explain themselves to the people they're trying to punt this tripe to.
They’d just completely flat out lie anyway. Remember when they were getting sounds for the 385 after the blowback on its release?
It will be interesting to see if DTG force Rivet to delay the release in order to fix this shambles. If they don't I will lose any remaining faith that they have an interest in quality control.
