Probably because only Köln-Düsseldorf and only the passenger line would sell just as well. But I can dream, can I?

Frankly I'd pay 40 or 45 Euros no problem for that, considering we're talking some 120+ km of rail in total here.

Oh man,I really like your suggestion.I would totally love to play on this map!
    But:
I think they wouldn't add 120 km of rail,I would say if they add the route, its gonna be about +-90km.
They wouldnt add all the trains exept for the Talent 2 in verkehrsrot, the DB BR 182 in the flixtrain look(because they're already in the game),one of the ICE trains and maybe the IC 2 trains.
And before i forget it:They should totally add the Metropolitan on this route!

    But anyway,great great work!

Thank you! I'm from that region, I have a few more upcoming that you might like as well!
Edit: Where did you get that map from? It even covers Cologne's tram lines, at least some :D

+1 for this suggestion, it's a really diverse network that offers a lot of potential. Not just in terms of what you could release today, but also what you could release in the future. There's S-Bahn, regional trains, express trains, intercity, freight, high speed... so many options! There are quite a number of operators and brands as well, the region definitely isn't dominated by DB Traffic Red anymore.

If I'm not mistaken, the area is also home to future Rhein-Ruhr-Express lines operated with the new 'Desiro HC' trains (double deck trailers + single deck end cars)?

Yes! Some of the non-traffic red trains running on this route right now as we speak:

...and of course lots and lots of freighters.

Done this route a few times myself and it’s quite nice, wouldn’t mind seeing something out of Düsseldorf for TSW.

That would have so much potential and would be brilliant route to add. Especially as I'm pretty often in Düsseldorf myself in real life.

May I dig up this old suggestion of mine, because something just came to my mind:

With the ET422 now being available for DTG, the correct trains for most passenger services on the route are already made and ready to be reused. BR146.2 on RE1 and RE5, 422 for both the S1 and S6, 155/182/185.2/185.5 for freighters. All that is really missing are high-level entry versions of the DoSto coaches, and maybe a train for the long haul services. An ICE, or a BR101 with InterCity coaches.

The point being, less manhours needed for trains, more available for route building.

Something else that should be noted: With two different routings over nearly the full 60 kilometers, that would make 120 km of railway. Maybe a bit much. So a more realistic scenario may be to leave the "cargo line" out. Calling them cargo and passenger line is a little misleading though. While the cargo line indeed has no passenger stations and therefor is pretty much exclusively cargo, that doesn't mean the passenger line sees no freighters at all. Just not very many. They need to get to, for example, the Reisholz freightyard somehow after all.
