With the recent preview stream of the Fife Circle falling below expectations I am keen to know if Rivet will make a public statement regarding the future of this route. If you, like myself, are really keen to buy this in the hope that issues will be ironed out and fixed but are worried that Rivet will continue with their minimal patches after release strategy. Then can we at least get a definitive answer from them that says your money will not be wasted and we can guarantee that all issues like scenery/timetable are not just "we will look in to it" but rather " yes it's coming and we promise to make the route better" It's a real shame about the stream, a route with so much potential now left in a tangled mess. Talk about making a good first impression.. let's make promises to us the customers, and our cash!
This situation reminds me of when Midland mainline was first shown off and how the reception was mostly negative, luckily Skyhook took in the feedback and gave the route pretty big updates and now it’s arguably a good route. In an ideal world Rivet was follow the same path but I honestly can’t imagine Fife getting updates as large as MML had, especially given their track record.
Forget about it, I'll be married, a Jaguar E-Type owner and living in a Kent vineyard by the time they release an update for the Class 150.
Their history would indicate that they will make some vague promises about future improvements and then leave it alone. They have done it multiple times before. They were fixing the 150. Never did. They were getting sounds for the 385. Never did. They have mislead (lied) to their customers multiple times. Any statement they make (if they even acknowledge this debacle) will be as empty as this routes timetable.
Exactly this. Which is why those urging us in other threads to just buy anyway and wait for the fixes are seriously misguided (or have an undeclared interest in the route achieving its sales target). We know from bitter experience that Jasper will come on and say they are looking into it, then months down the road nothing has happened and it joins the pile of fire and forget DLC.
The recent furore and resulting conspiracy theories regarding the edited Kensington Palace sanctioned photograph highlights that once a brand's reputation is damaged, it is difficult to get trust in it back.
We've been here before with Arosa and WCL. Little patches yes but no proper fixes or notable improvements. They just carry on churning out DLC for it. Skyhook for MML did a series of solid patches that really improved the route. Still not ideal but they did put some effort in post-release at least.
I refuse to buy anything else from Rivet until they sort there mess out Wcl was a disaster and the 150 which still hasn't been sorted after 2 years so I can't see the Fife circle being updated to good standard
Looks like I’ll be going back to taxi life for the foreseeable future or until the Austrian route is released. After 20+ runs on the Goblin line, I’m already bored with that route. A lot of other sims I’m enjoying more than TSW atm. People’s comments have really impacted my decision on purchasing the new route, so I will be definitely waiting for a sale now. DTG need to cut ties with Rivet, no one likes them and they’re only tarnishing DTG name even further.
In a few days it will be four years since the launch of BR 204. If there is one thing I have learned in all this time, it is not to trust any promise or word that Rivet games can say.
We all need to vote with our wallets, it’s the only language they understand. I for one will not be buying this route, and I hope those others who agree it’s turgid for the money it’s on sale, do the same and hold off. Focus need to get their house in order, and maybe ask DTG to review the practises and standards they expect from their third parties. After all, the Goblin shows that DTG can provide the goods when it suits themselves.
DTG should weigh in and insist that Rivet Games make the necessary (at least most important) updates before allowing them to release anything new to the franchise. Without such oversight, the current pattern will simply continue until either they go bust with nobody buying their dlc or DTG remove permission to be part of TSW development. Rivet have had some good routes that are let down by poor and lazy execution and failure to update and improve in a timely manner.
Exactly, this is what happened and building the start to another broken promise again. Jasper came out and said there would be improvements to the timetable. And that they would start building the Leven branch in June. However, no exact statements and clear words regarding scenery enhancements. Only that they would "be comitted to continue working on the route release", which is not enough for me. No apologies for the quality the route was sent out, no clear statements they are currently about to improve the scenery, no slightly bit of sign showing being responsible. No trust from my part and none of the words stated so far convinced me in buying it still. A pass from me.
Rivet won’t make any promises and I very much doubt they’ll do much to improve the route. Just look at their track record in TSW - it’s frankly appalling. I knew this route would be a major let down so I refused to watch or read anything about it. The posts from people who jumped in and bought it vindicating my expectations. Rivet can model trains nicely and CAN make a route look decent if they put the effort in, but everything else is just a shambles. They should just make the trains for DTG routes so DTG can focus on scenery, timetables etc. I won’t be buying unless the route sees a significant update and only if the 170 is put into other routes. Rivet has practically zero community engagement (I mean what does Jasper_Rivet actually do all day?) and have made many promises (told many lies) that never see the light of day.
When have Rivet ever held their hands up and admitted they got it wrong. This is the standard of their work, shoody and shambolic and that will never change. It is what it is. Rubbish. Except it after all it’s Rivet and they are never going to correct their appalling work. I can’t believe that they are allowed to get away with it. I bet the good designers in this industry are loving hearing our disappointment about Rivet. Rivet are the laughingstock of this industry and are proud to be so.
