In this case, it looks like you correctly acknowledged the adverse signal aspect, and started slowing down.

However, your deceleration was not fast enough, and so PZB activated the emergency brakes. When you acknowledge, you have a limited time to get down to speed before the brakes come on.

    Basically you needed more brakes.

What aeronautic237 said. In addition, your response to the signal was less than optimal: You were going rather fast for a mode M freight train. In that situation with the signal surprising you, you should not have been messing with the electric brake and absolutely not with AFB. You should have rather immediatly pulled the train brake to a full service application. No other way you could have made it.

Having rewatched the video, I have a few more things to say.

    1) The lever on the right is the train brake. It applies brakes throughout the entire train. You should use this for braking, rather than any of the levers on the left. The shortcut for this is ; and ' on the keyboard. You may be aware of this, but it is here in case you aren't.

    2) You are travelling at 120km/h. I don't know what the rules are, but I find that when the Vectron is pulling a very heavy consist, it cannot slow down to 70km/h in time. Whenever I drive the Vectron, I never exceed 100km/h because of how slow the brakes are (even if the speed limit is higher).

    3) It is common practice for drivers to drive 5km/h below the PZB speed. (If the PZB says 85, drive at 80. If PZB says 70, drive at 65. If PZB says 55, drive at 50. If PZB says 45, drive at 40. If PZB says 25, drive at 20.) I bring this up because you set the AFB to 70km/h, instead of 65, suggesting you were unaware of this.

    4) You are allowed to start braking upon sight of the signal, and do not need to wait to pass it. I notice that you had not started braking until you had passed the signal. You may find it better to start braking before passing the signal (but remember to acknowledge).
