DTG did tease some things for April 1st. Could they be jokes, or actual teasers. 1st up, from the Cathcart Circle Line - a stop board for a Class 380? Not sure if it being slanted means anything.
Honestly I'd just be glad to have a 380, I would prefer it had its own route but it would at least help populate glasgow central. I just hope DTG would be making it and not rivet
Rivet always model locos really well and seem to have got a grip of physics in their recent releases, I wouldn’t mind them making a 380
Fair enough, but I think it would be better off coming with a route as I can hardly imagine the sales would be particularly high (compared to other locos/units) and we know what DTG are like if a type of product doesn't sell well on one occasion and I don't want loco DLCs to be lost, but also haven't got the interest in the 380 to buy it.
But now I'm wondering: How will the cab car be released? I doubt it will come with another InterCity loco, like the BR 120, so is it going to be its own loco DLC, which would then require you to own the BR 101 DLC, or is it packed into a route? Never really had the situation that only a cab car (at least as far as we know) was going to be releaed.
I mean with that picture we can only assume that we'll get the 380, but we can't really say if it's coming with a route or as a loco DLC. The 380 also fits on Cathcart and if DTG doesn't want to leak the route for now, it's the perfect location to take a screenshot. As with the DB BR 440 that could be seen in the latest trailer for TSW, the only existing fitting route is a bit old and it would be rather untypical for DTG to now release a loco for said route. If the route get's an update to TSW4 features, that's fine, but it would be a big suprise if DTG would actually do that.
Looks like Bad Erndorf on Salzburg-Rosenheim (I've discovered the roof and the track bend ind google maps!)
Well, there are several possibilities: The cab car with the BR 120 (2 new locos would be unlikely for only 1 loco DLC i guess?) The cab car in an update for the BR 101 (also unlikely...) With a new route (I dont think so when the route is really Salzburg-Rosenheim) The cab car as an DLC for the 101 (you would need to own HRR for the 101 for the cab car...silly?) I have no ideas left
Out of all these options, I think it being a (payed) addon to the BR 101 seems to be the most realistic. Maybe they throw in 2-3 new coaches too, to get enough for the price of a loco DLC. Otherwise perhaps we'll get a BR 120 or a BR 218 (already in development) for non-electrified routes?
Didn’t Rivet tweet something about a Class 380 a few months ago? edit: yes they did https://x.com/rivetgames/status/1734174702677975200?s=46&t=Hr4cMjmfKOcKdqSRBJw2Ag
As for sounds on the 380, pretty similar to the 700 with some minor differences, the motors themselves do sound more like the 710 so hopefully those could be used
On the subject of the UK route, we do have both a UK route and a UK loco on the roadmap. I really hope that if a 380 is coming, it's with a route. Because I am really holding out hope that the loco pack is a new modern freight loco, I want to see it layer in over all 66 services as is the case with most of the German freight locos.
Matt also said in the unnamed loco discussion that it was “very desirable”, which I thought to mean either a popular suggestion or a desiro, guess we know which, sucks tho I agree, would it even be worth it to make it tho?
Well the 218 can be controlled from a cab car. If it's compatible with the IC cab, I don't know, but as the 218 is in development and the IC cab should come bundled with something, it seems to be a possibility for now.
If it’s a 380 then it’s another Scottish route so maybe it could be Edinburgh - Dunbar or the Ayrshire Line. I feel like this is an April Fools Joke by DTG though… So who knows it could be anything. Hopefully we get a reveal next week on the roadmap.
Regarding the IC cab car, that sure does come as a surprise to me if true. No idea just how they’ll release it given the obvious difficulties. As I’m not a cab car enthusiast (apart from the n-Wagen KaKo), I’m not terribly excited but still happy to get more prototypical IC consists if it’s a genuine teaser.
This is not true, according to what I am told. Some 218 were retrofitted with ZWS and are compatible with the cab car. This only works if it is only one 218, though. You will see two 218 usually when there are a certain amount of Waggons to be heated, as one can only supply enough energy for a certain amount of them (can’t remember how many, I seem to remember 8, I may be wrong, though…).
It more than likely is, remember what Matt said, the uk loco is a “desirable” train. And the 380 is a Desiro electric, which if it is the loco that’s so disappointing it deserves its own route, I personally don’t like the Cathcart circle I’d prefer another Scottish route for it
Thank you for the correction! I should have thought of that. Still, the cab car is normally not used with 218s, so packaging the two together would be an odd choice for an addon.
I remember it, but I were just hoping it were actually going to be highly desirable, rather than a desiro.
Yeah, there could be chances it’s something else actually more desirable than the 380, we can just pray and wait
Well, Glasgow Central with actually passengers and trains in it, that's what I would call a pleasant joke.
This. Cathcart is okay but round and round with a 380 is not something you’re going to want to do many times in a row. Better if it came with a fresh section of the Glasgow suburban network or an actual extension of Cathcart. Anyway, April 1st best to stay off social media and forums until after midday when any tomfoolery should have subsided.
me too but to where a expansion of the Cathcart i think that maybe it get a TOD 4 upgrade with maybe minor upgrade and a new addons with 380 and can be run on the Cathcart too
nah i think it's not the loco addons because matt say that the UK loco was really really really suggested at the moment on the suggestion and there are only 2 trains was really suggested the 4 last month are the class 60 and 91
I'm pretty sure it's going to be a part of a new commuter route, where it's going to be used on RB trains with 143s The only German (non-Austrian) piece of content on March roadmap is the Simtrack DE loco, so it's possible it's a complete trainset with a new loco as well as the cab car, but who knows.
