For the unfamiliar, why is a 380 bad? My biggest issue with Cathcart is the lighting and lack of traffic variety, so this would seem to solve both.
A lot of people aren't a fan of modern EMUs, since they all sound and look somewhat similar Personally though I don't mind so long as they're modelled well, and the 380 is pretty unique looking compared to other modern units
It's not necessarily bad, but it is just another modern commuter EMU and so not particularly exciting or standout. For loco DLCs it would surely make much more sense to release a popular, highly wanted or different (as it it is a new experience to existing traction in the game) train to the game.
The word desirable can either mean it is literally a Desiro, or it could have just been a play on words.
April 1st guys! Too many Scotrail contents so close together are unlikely, also given the imminent release of Skyhook 158.
Given DTG’s history, I’m tempted to believe this is simply an elaborate April Fool’s joke. However, I really don’t think that’s a sound reason to think the 380 isn’t being heavily hinted at here…
As I just posted in the other thread, poor choice vs. a 320 or even a 303. Another EMU with a letterbox view out the cab, maybe not as bad as the 385 but we already see Cathcart through a restricted view with the 314.
Wasn’t it also said at some point that we’d have pretty much a full ScotRail fleet? Would fit with it being a 380 too. Obvs a few outstanding, but as close to a full fleet as could be expected.
I personally wouldn’t mind a full(ish) ScotRail fleet. There’s some interesting traction I’d be very interested in exploring in TSW. Namely some of the Coradia units.
I'm very happy it's a 380! Have always wanted this train! It's my local and I'm so glad dtg are doing it!
I'll wait for the April 9th roadmap. I don't trust DTG's "leaks". However, the 380 looks better than many other modern EMUs. I'm looking forward to a future 156 and 153 in West Highland!
Well I just had a quick bimble in the TSC 380 and my suspicions were confirmed. It's another one handled abomination with a claustrophobic cab, postage stamp sized front window and barely any audible traction noise. If DTG have chosen this over the much nicer 320 (which I also had a quick play with), a very poor choice from the people who make these decisions.
I think it's basically confirmed. Matt did say it would be "Very Desirable" (desiroble) I'm very much looking forward to this. I think dtg will do a good job of it.
Yes, a train that has been requested a lot would by its very nature also be desirable but would it be “desirable” in quotations posted by the EP as a cryptic clue, swiftly followed by a picture of an unconnected Desiro train? Well, that would be a no. When an attributable clue comes our way, that is what is coming, not something else that people also want. It won’t be long before a Class 91 and the DVT (not deep vein thrombosis lol) comes along but this isn’t it. As for the picture of the 380 being nothing? There is no chance DTG would post a picture of a Class 380 in their socials and then tell us they aren’t releasing one. That would be a public relations community trust disaster, even on 1st of April.
To be fair, the 320 would be better off getting added with an argyle line dlc, with the 318 being a loco add-on for that eventually
Matt didn’t say desirable by accident. It was essentially a wink wink comment. Which is something they always do with their hints. And now they’ve literally shown a 380.
You know that for certain, do you? At the time, it could have meant anything, could have meant a literal Desiro, or a desired new train (of which there have been many).
Quite well as it turns out! Only now to wait and see if there is an extension to GCC too. At the very least I'd expect ToD4 to be implemented but Cathcart is ripe for an extension in several different directions so it would be good to see this. I'd imagine a new TT will be on the way too. I think at this juncture, given the evidence, anyone who seriously thinks it's anything other than a 380 is in denial. No way would they share a screenshot like that and then not produce the goods - that would be a complete PR disaster.
I believe that the units most desired by the community, looking at the posts here on the forum, are Class 55, 60, 68, and 91. All of these are Locomotives, not EMUs/DMUs.
Yes, I knew it. I just wanted to say that it seems like a particular choice to me. I remain of the opinion that a remake of GCC is possible with the introduction of a new multiple unit (380). The only thing left to clarify is which locomotive actually comes as a separately released package. We'll see!
Well now we do because they’ve literally shown a 380. Again. Matt didn’t say desirable by accident. It didn’t even fit what he was saying. He forced that word into the comment. It was a wink wink comment.
Well, it's pretty obvious it's going to be a 380 now we've actually seen a picture. But, its not the only Desiro. It could have easily been a 444, 450, 350 or 185 which are also Desiros. Could have even alluded to the 'Desiro City' 700, 707 or 717. (Yes I know they don't have a route yet)
That could have just been a play on words at the time.. then DTG saw this influx of people thinking it will be a 380 and decided to play on that a bit with April Fools!
Exactly. Knowing Rivet, I would say that we'll have a single big update, which will fix some bugs, fills the timetable and add the Leven Branch. I wouldn't be surprised if the 158 was also released immediately after this update comes out.
Exactly! Yes; DTG usually choose their words carefully but just because they usually do, doesn't mean they always do.
380s never ran Edinburgh to Glasgow if I’m not mistaken. And yes I agree we should be getting the class 91 for the ECML considering that has been highly requested
It’ll be running on Cathcart. This is what they did with the 700. They hinted at it. Then released a teaser image. Then announced it during the roadmap. Now as for why they’re releasing a loco for a TSW2 route that was one of the shorter routes….. I don’t know. But everything is in that teaser image.
They did. They ran on the Falkirk high line before the class 385's. They ran and still do for peak time services on the Shotts and Carstairs lines. They run on the cathcart circle as well. And a number of other lines which could have a.i lines Ayshire Coast, Inverclyde, Paisley Canal and more recently, Glasgow to Barrhead.
I'm standing by the 380 arriving, either on the Cathcart Circle or on some sort of reworked/ extended route including Paisley Canal and Barrhead. To me, the rivet post about Barrhead being Electrified seems so unusual for it to be Rivet 'Congratulating' Scotrail
Rivet probably know what dtg are doing and that was why they posted. I have a feeling dtg gave them the option to do fife circle or the 380 and rivet chose fife leaving dtg to do the 380. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
