    Guys,

I've been beating my head against the wall for the last 2 days trying to learn the scenario designer to no avail.

TopHSTFan8294 has made 6 separate numbered liveries out of the 710 as the new WMR Class 730's. I would really love to have an all-stops scenario (one in each direction) made up of his wonderful repaints. I was wondering if anyone would be up to the challenge, or point me to a possible YT video that would teach me how to do it on my own (and that I would then share). The WMR website stated that these 730 services on BCC would actually be starting this spring.

    Hi There,

Scenario Editor is fairly easy to get your head around once you've played with it a bit. The good thing about it is that you can simply add a couple of services (the Player and just 1 piece of AI) and then run the scenario to see what happens. Then you can go back in to your scenario and put more services in, tweaking times as necessary. Try the instructions below.

    1) Go to "Creative Centre", "Scenario Planner", "Brum Cross City route.
    2) New Menu - Click on "Create New", Enter 'Name', 'Description'. 'Start Time' and tick the "Off the Rails box" (very important).
    3) You can set the weather on this screen too. Not essential at this stage. Then press "Confirm".
    4) New Menu - "Add New Service" - Key in ' Name', 'Service Start Time', 'Player Controlled?' and 'Service Type' (Pass or Freight).
    5) New Menu - Select "Set Train" - pick the train for this service = CL710, then Formation (4-car empty), then select Livery.
    6) Confirm the "Add New Path" - pick the path and the Start / End / Stopping points for this service.
    7) Then press "Save and Exit" and you will now have made the Player Service for your Scenario.
    8) Just Double Check that you have the Driver Icon on you Service to show that it is the Player.
    9) Now you can add other AI services (Don't tick the Player Controlled box) to bulk up your scenario.
    10) At any point your can Save & Exit the Editing functions to "Play" the scenario.
    11) Each individual service can be tweaked later on (Edit Details or Edit Timetable) as and when you know what you want to do.

Just have a play. You can't break the game in Scenario Editor. Create a Player Service, press Play and see what happens.
Then add 1 AI service going the other way, press Play, see what happens. And so on.
You'll soon get the hang of it :)

I'd start off with the Player Service and maybe one or two AI trains to see if it works, then test it to make sure, then keep adding more until it looks complete :)

Testing is the key factor in scenarios made within Scenario Planner as spikeyorks says, you cannot break the game within SP and it is a good way of noticing problems which could go unnoticed if you release it without any prior testing so that's my advice

Please feel free to ask me and spikeyorks if you need any more help as we are experienced in this field ;)

Whoo, lordie! I was able to follow these instructions & get the base scenario created with me driving northbound from Bromsgrove to Lichfield City & 1 AI service going from Trent Valley southbound to Redditch.

I created the service to start at 9am local. When I test-play the scenario, it starts at 10, and when I open the train doors, no passengers enter the train & the doors auto-close about 120 seconds later. Any idea what I screwed up?

    You either set the scenario start time to 10am instead of 9am, here is what I mean;

What do those mean, you might ask?

    Scenario start time at 10am:

You selected in the menu before entering the scenario for it to begin at 10am and not 9am as planned. This tells the game that you should have gone by then and to not let you out of Bromsgrove (for example) as you should have left at 9am as per the time you selected it to leave.

Just change the scenario start time to 9am and voila, you should be able to leave Bromsgrove with no issues whatsoever :)

    Yep, that was the issue!

Now, to try and figure out how to properly load the service out based on what little info is currently available on the planned switch to the 730's this spring. I know the Wikipedia page for the BCC says the roll-out of the 730's will raise the current 4PH loading on the main parts of the route to potentially 6PH.

Glad to hear that you have got started. The best way to learn is to play around with the Editor yourself.
Just don't, in the beginning, get too obsessed with the real world. Create a scenario running between a few stations with a few passenger and freight services going the other way (start them at specific times so that you know you will pass them) and, possibly, with one in front of you so that you get a few signal checks en-route. :)

Funnily enough I was messing about with BCC trying to see if I could get some extra paths in the the route for better scenario creation. In this case it seemed to work quite well and my first version has enabled me to do this. (New Street PL2 for example). Hopefully, once I have tested this a lot more (and I mean a lot) I can upload and everyone will get the benefit of being able to use extra paths.

And I have been playing with some of the extra stock items too.

Making slow & steady progress - I've gotten 2 AI services added that I've successfully passed with them going in the other direction.

With the Aventra units now in the sim, I would hope they would add these in officially...
