It was the Britains core route for TSW3, though if you owned the TSW2 version you got it free.

Ah yes, that‘s how it was. And I think even if you bought the US or German TSW3 starter packs you still got SEHSE free (along with the 465 which was a separate DLC for TSW2).
Whilst I never expected that LIRR 2.0 would be free, I was expecting a large discount for owning the first.

On one hand, I'm definitely glad to see LIRR gets a well-deserved upgrade and I believe DTG should be paid for their efforts. On the other hand I'm definitely not paying for the same route twice in full, no matter what the issue or explanation.

So... wait for a sale it is then.

Shame. I won't buy it. I'm on Playstation and have to pay 36€ for an loco addon and update like west somerset. 36€!!!
I play tsw since 2018 but I have never experienced such a rip off

I don’t think any dlc has not been on sale at some point, though for new addons your going to be looking at a year + to wait for any good sales (that’s how it seems to go on Xbox anyhows)

It was free if you had the original but a bit of a ‘buy it again’ deal when buying the original TSW3 bundle. Buying one of the single route launch packs (not the UK one) did get you the upgraded version free if you already owned it but the standard packs had no discount if you already had it. The UK single route packs was SEHS itself so that was a real blow to those who wanted just the UK pack for TSW3. It was a right mess. This is much simpler to understand. Everybody pays again but Steam players get a discount. They should have included the M3 in the new version to sweeten the deal as they did include the 465 in the SEHS revamp, which was a bonus for those who hadn’t paid for it for the first version. For those of us who paid for SEHS twice and had already bought the 465 it was not great. All water under the bridge now.

It’s a jolly old world is TSW. It’s a great way to get rid of all that extra cash you have lying round. I can well imagine people not buying this as a protest or waiting a long time until is heavily discounted. I’m not entirely sure it’s worth buying LIRR again at full price unless you really like the LIRR or the M9. Even though it isn’t just a paid upgrade, paying for long needed fixes etc, because there is a new loco and a new branch, it’s going to feel like it to some people. It’s going right to the bottom of my wanted list, just below Fife Circle, so not one for me to get excited (or annoyed) by and I’m sure in a year or so it will be the price of a loco DLC in a PS store sale.

Just reading the roadmap and there are a lot of interesting things coming up, plus of course it’s not that long until the big summer bundle release. I’m crying £20 notes. Too much stuff around to be buying LIRR again.

    Entitled much?

It's hardly a secret that Microsoft and Sony exercise total control over discounts and sales on their proprietary platforms, and game publishers can't do anything about it.

Ah, now the delay is explained: MTA wouldn't sign off until DTG removed features which might affect security on RW trains, like how to operate door consoles, and where the cameras are.

I usually drive with safety systems on, by choice. But I'm concerned about a policy change to make safety systems always active for all players. Not everyone will like that being forced upon them, regardless if it's required by the licensing authority or not. More choice is always better for the player, not less.

I'll be buying, preview stream pending.

Ultimately it's another EMU and 15 miles of new track (essentially the same offering as Suffragette Line/GOBLIN), together with a whole raft of updates integrated into a heavily revised existing route. Don't feel like I'm being mugged off for £24 to be honest, and I'd be delighted if they did the same thing with eg. NTP or Tees Valley.

Rather disappointing, think this should have been £15 to existing customers to cover the new train and short extension.

Sorry to say this but along with the other price gouging becoming evident from the roadmap (Expert mode), DTG are going a bit Gordon Gecko on us.

Strictly one for a very heavily discounted sale or bundle.

i imagine the workload they did with it probably does justify the price tag quite a bit, but to players who already own the TSW2 route how that reflects doesn’t seem to match up.

The whole issue is I'm not entitled, to discount a apparently!

I am however entitled to an option.

The point is your blaming dtg for something which is out of there control.

Seems more out of there remit when they want to sell it not exactly out of their control.

they’ve said consoles don’t do it on demand so they would have had to wait when they do do it, DTG don’t want to do that.

They said the route is set in 2021..GCM wasn't done around that time and thr the third track as well..

-Also where the layers in and out of Penn??(Amtrak and NJ Transit)
-Once again no diesel double decker service.
-Is the partial Babylon Branch even included between Jamaica and Lynbrook via St Albans?
-And then console customers still have to pay full price after having LIRR 2020 Dlc??

Lol yep that's DTG..Still not impressed.

Well recent source confirms, a partial Babylon service maybe added between NY and Lynbrook via St Albans.

I stand correct, the era is set jus like the original dlc in 2018 and yet still give us a 2021 timetable..Regardless that doesn't make sense...typical DTG!!

This won't be the 'new normal' - just for this Add-on, based on feedback from Licensors.

    Good to know. Thanks JD.

I clearly understood the reasons in this case. But felt it was important to put the feedback on record as a long-time customer.

That's a relief, but I'm really hoping LIRR safety systems aren't anything like NYT, which IMO pushed the route into "a chore just to get through" territory, regardless if they are accurate or not.

On this point I just want to re-assure that this is not a policy change, it's a one-off decision that was needed to satisfy licensing requirements.

It was that, or no route.

I would love a detailed look at the scenery whereever it's been enhanced.

Namely, I wonder how does the stretch from Jamaica to New York Penn look like?
What about at night? The original route appeared extremely dark at night, it was borderline unplayable. Has this been addressed?

Or how about the sounds for the trains? Something noticeable that was missing from the original was how loud the bougies squeak. The M7's bounce around a good amount especially through junctions, it's part of the charm of these trainsets.

Practically Payware update of the old route... New policy I presume? Practically it is monetization of multi year dtgs negligence of lirr addon. As owner of this route addon I can pay you for this update 10bucks, not more...

I’d also like to know how this looks, the area around Sunnyside yard has changed a lot since LIRR 1.0 and I was disappointed to see the New York area had remained unchanged when NY - Trenton released, I wonder how up to date they’ll make existing scenery for this route.

The only thing bout this is u can see part of the Atlantic Branch. BUt why once again. No diesel double decker service because no sense of this route added with LI City and Hunterspoint...and me personally I would've set it in 2019..I wasn't a fan of the 2021 timetable in real life... Then, why I we still stuck at Hicksville, they could've added Huntington at least...Now if they have BOTH Ronkonkoma and Huntington runs to/from Hicksville, then that's ok.. STILL, should've went to Huntington.

The paranoia from MTA is hilarious if they actually forced DTG to remove that stuff for safety reasons. DTG have been making true to life train simulators for more than 15 years and to my knowledge there has been no recorded incident of someone attempting to hijack a train from knowledge they gained in a train sim. Not to mention that ultra realistic aircraft have been modeled in flight simulators for decades and no one has tried to stop them even though the safety risks posed by true to life flight sims is far more than a train sim.

Honestly, this is looking much better than I expected. And, for those complaining about the price: C'mon folks, LIRR is going on a four year old route and not the best of that TSW 2020 era. Time to bury it in the back yard and move on. Yes, console players get the short end, but that's nothing new.

Actually, despite what I've been saying about TSW and US rail, I'm kind of excited to see how this " new " route looks and plays. It not A-B at least. It's a mini network. And the " M " series don't have all those pretty colors. And they're kinda noisy too. Not your usual emu route.

Day One ( barring any surprises and decent night lighting ).

I appreciate what you've done with the M9, new stations, and updates. I'd politely like to suggest that the loyalty discount might appeal more at 35-40% and be offered to all platforms. Also, I view any alterations that make this less protypical as objectionable and would want MTA to respect that TSW players aren't likely the ones causing incidents.

If MTA have enforced those criteria on DTG, there is nothing we or DTG can do about it. It’s either have the mandated criteria or nothing at all.

true, though pretty silly on MTA’s regard to think because they are or are not in TSW effects reality.

I ain’t travelling to New York either way whether they are in or not :)

I swear people in these virtual halls only want new versions of old routes for the pure fact on then being able to riot about it, don't know how many people have been calling for new timetable or extension, even more stock on the route, now your getting it, your all getting your bloody Pitchfork's super sharp, stabby and ready for war......

Yes, I realize that and it is unfortunate. My hope is, simply, to see the game be as real life as it can be.

Really nice and I wonder why Grand Central Terminal isn't made with the route because there are services that go there from Hicksville Hempstead and Long Beach in Real life.

Probably because they had to pick something to be made and they could only pick 1. There's also the old route to be updated which probably took away a lot of dev time
