At least he is enthusiastic, I wouldn't say he is annoying. It is nice to see someone here showing an interest in trains.
However, I'm pleased with his interventions. I see that despite his origin, he's aware of the network tensions and various details also of European routes. Sometimes it's nice to see additions, which are always welcome!
Going to have to throw WCML North (Carlisle to Glasgow) or WCML over Shap back in the mix. Driving a Class 86 from Carlisle to Mossend on The Clansman yesterday evening was just sublime, though I need to really get the AP sound enhancement for it. Afterwards fired up the 87 for a run from Preston. Both these sections combine fast running (but not too fast), gradients, curvature and some nice scenery. Plenty of scope for layers too.
I think this next UK route will be a "statement" release. Looking at DTG's recent UK routes we've had a big box-ticking one ECML and the IET both finally in-game. Then two short routes either side of it. The next one will either introduce stunning scenery like the Riviera route or Settle to Carlisle, it could bring loads of existing traction together (a la ECML South) or it could be something completely different like 1980s GEML with slamdoors. I've been lobbying for C2C as it makes most sense (to me) and would be superb, but the dream one would be First Great Eastern 2002 with 315 (adapted 314 would do), 312, 321 and Anglia 86s Mk2 DBSO sets. Liverpool Street to Ipswich and Clacton. I'd happily pay £50+ for a long route with a long branch line and 3 completely new forms of traction.
Only if the route on the roadmap is the summer release, otherwise I believe it would be another smaller route, especially given how close it would be to the summer release in terms of development time. Two big UK routes releasing only a handful of months apart seems unlikely.
What UK route do you think that Just Trains are creating? I would love to hear your ideas and I desire a London route.
I have a feeling that it could be C2C which I would love. It could also be a Welsh route which is not my cup of tea
My first instinct is to think it’s a Chiltern Route, I don’t believe they’ll tackle the Met Line for TSW just yet.
That would be great. They have not mentioned much about it so I am assuming it is a relatively big project if they had to adjust the roadmap.
If it is the Chiltern railways then I hope it will he the route from London Marylebone to Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Aylesbury via West Ruislip.
I'd be very happy with C2C or part of WCML. Personally though, I think it's about time we had a Welsh route: my vote would be for Shrewsbury-Aberystwyth-Pwllheli.
Midland Mainline, Hope Valley, Chiltern, the list goes on. I'd be surprised if it wasn't a route they had research on already, maybe a route they made in TSC previously?
