Introduction: Introducing the glasgow southwestern line to train sim world 4, a commuter diesel route running out of Glasgow via the outer suburbs of Glasgow, out towards East Ayrshire. The route: Starting in Glasgow central, the route runs out via the same line as the Cathcart circle for a mile or so, branching off just before pollokshaws west. The main route itself is only partially electrified, as far as Barrhead. While the lines towards East Kilbride and Kilmarnock are still diesel only. 2 timetables would be included on release, with one being set pre-electrification, and one set post-electrification. Services and timetable: Below are some examples of services that can be seen on the route: 1L09 17:59 Carlisle to Glasgow central Calls at: Kilmaurs, Stewarton, Dunlop, Barrhead, Glasgow central. Time taken: 40m Operated by: Class 156 1A20 10:27 Glasgow central to Kilmarnock Calls at: Crossmyloof, Pollokshaws west, Kennishead, Priesthill & Darnley, Nitshill, Barrhead, Dunlop, Stewarton, Kilmaurs, Kilmarnock. Time taken: 53m Operated by: Class 156 2J02 06:12 Glasgow central to East Kilbride Calls at: Crossmyloof, Pollokshaws west, Thornliebank, Giffnock, Clarkston, Busby, Thorntonhall, Hairmyres, East Kilbride. Time taken: 33m Operated by: Class 156 2A47 10:28 Barrhead to Glasgow central Calls at: Nitshill, Priesthill & Darnley, Kennishead, Pollokshaws west, Crossmyloof, Glasgow central. Time taken: 20m Operated by: Class 156, Class 380, Class 385 (Substitutions). 1A62 10:03 Kilmarnock to Girvan Calls at: Troon. Time taken: 13m Operated by: Class 156. Stations: Glasgow central Crossmyloof pollokshaws west Kennishead Priesthill & Darnley Nitshill Barrhead Dunlop Stewarton Kilmaurs Kilmarnock Barassie Troon (East kilbride branch) Thornliebank Giffnock Clarkston Busby Thorntonhall Hairmyres East kilbride Traction and Rolling stock: Class 156 "Super sprinter" The class 156 is a diesel multiple unit which will be the primary Rolling stock on this route, operating all services to east Kilbride, Kilmarnock, and towards ayr, as well as operating Barrhead services on the non-electrified timetable. Top speed: 75mph Layers: CCL (AI and depot moves), Fife circle (Substitutions), E&G (Depot moves and AI) Layers: Class 380 "Desiro" The class 380 would operate Barrhead services on the electrified timetable, As well as depot moves to Shields depot, and AI services. Class 385 The class 385 would have rare Substitutions for the class 380, as well as AI at Glasgow central. Class 158 The class 158 would appear as static at shields depot, and would also have an ECS move to kilmarnock bonnyton depot. ROG class 37 The ROG 37 would have services to drag scotrail units between Barassie and Kilmarnock bonnyton depot. Overall: The glasgow southwestern line would bring a second route out of Glasgow central, this time a diesel route, And would add some extra variety to the other Scottish routes.
Brilliant suggestion! We do need more routes in this area in the UK, as in my opinion, it's absolutely beautiful.
I live next to the East Kilbride Line, I would like to to see the route one day in tsw, at the moment the East Kilbride line is currently in the process of being electrified as the overhead equipment for the cables are currently being installed (as far as busby at the moment due to works on the single line after busby) there is going to be a new Hairmyres Train station currently being constructed along with it being double tracked. A new station building is about to be constructed in the next few months at East Kilbride and which the platform at East Kilbride is being extended to accommodate the Class 380. Giffnock platform 1 has just been rebuilt and extended as the trains have been 4 carriages instead of 6 but will be back to 6 carriages. The class 380 does go as far as Barrhead as its been electrified for under 12 months, The class 156 is the main train at the moment on both lines and there is going to be new trains coming (when I do not know) as the 156s have just over 40 years old to which will have to replaced in order to have half hourly services running. After 8pm the trains to East Kilbride are hourly till the last 2 Services at 23:18 and 23:48. The railway bridge at Thornliebank is to be demolished and replaced to accommodate the overhead lines and the 380 trains, 2 bridges at before Hairmyres have been rebuilt, the first class 380 to run in the East Kilbride line is scheduled for December 2025 after the 12 week line closure for the overhead line equipment, driver training for the new Hairmyres Station and the new section on double track as hairmyres will have 2 platforms.
