My objective: To create a QD consist that is workable in any TSC route (principally Boston-Albany and VNHRR Springfield) using the DTM DL-109 with Pullman coaches from VNHRR. The TSC consist builder will not work so I tried using RWTools but have been unsuccessful in doing so. I added the rolling stock to the grid and followed the instructions in the RWT manual but the created consist was never transferred to the Preload folder as was indicated by the RWT message at the end of the process. My PreLoad folder is located in the Assets folder. I assigned the path from the Options tab in RWT. As an experiment, I removed the original PreLoad folder from the DTM DL-109 folder which contained the 15 consists and fragments, to see what would happen. When I selected the QD tab from the Main Menu, I selected a DL-109 and then clicked on the consist box, the entire list of 15 consists and fragments appeared. How so, when I had removed the PreLoad folder that they were in? I'm considering purchasing Railworks Enhancer to give me the option of creating QD scenarios. It is a shame that DTG has never addressed the mal-function of the Consist Builder that once worked but does not now after the core update.
The PreLoad folders are in each DLC's folders. So have you added your preloads to Assets\DTM\ALCo DL109 NH\PreLoads? And the Consist Builder works, it'll just not work if you have corrupt assets (which happen to be in some 3rd party freeware addons) And consists made as PreLoads will only appear on routes that must be manually specified. The ConsistEditor will save the data in ConsistTemplates.bin. These consists are available throughout the game. Get RWEnhancer, it should help you. If you unserz ConsistTemplates.bin, you'll see that it is not that hard to make a new consist using a text editor only, if you're aware of the TS file structure.
When I created a QD Consist I started by building the train I wanted on a bit the old Test Trak Then knowing the consists worked I made note of the vehicles and amended a Consist in the loco's Pre Load The Loco stayed the same but with new vehicles - and a new name. I sometimes photo the Daventry - Mossed Tesco train with a class 88 and 19 pairs on Container wagons - 38 flats. Always looks impressive - not quite the same in the game.
