I feel your pain. I desperately want axis control so we can properly use levers.
For now I run a bunch of peripherals through Joy2Key and basically turn them into glorified key strokes. Works well for immersion.

    Agreed.

AWS on old loco's (31, 40, 47, HST etc.) use the numpad Enter key, even though I change the mapping in game to 'Q', it still maps to Enter and my AWS controller/plunger won't work on these loco's

So I actually bought the AWS button from TS Controllers. It’s great.

I also use the gas pedal from my driving setup to acknowledge other safety systems depending on the route.

I’m surprised by how much immersion I’ve been able to squeeze out of TSW despite its rigid control mapping

What direct input support in a sim game in 2024 using a game engine that already has the 30 year old controller standard built in, a game with a the thread on this forum with a raildriver to joystick mod which been on the front page of this very forums for years now.
    What you suggest is madness.
Sim Rail Update on Monday will have proper controller support.
The whole train sim genre for what ever reason decided to only support a over priced piece of junk instead of the default pc controller standard. I will never spend 300 dollars on a raildriver. its basically a keyboard with levers attached to it. Which is why its so jerky it does not use proper axis like a real controller dose.
DTG seems to for what ever reason lack any and all ambition to push the genre forward in any way and their sole goal is to do less then they used to do but with with nicer assets.
