So, I've raised this concern several times already, whether on YouTube chats or in other posts here in forum, but never made it's dedicated suggestion.

Since I know implementing a full functional working EBuLa display is in plans for years now at the DTG office but as stated several times not easy to create for the developers and maybe can never be correctly implemented into the game just because Unreal can be hard to be tamed with special functionality, here my suggestion for at least a good approach to it.

I think if the timetable (when HUD is active and pressing T) could be displayed on the EBuLa screen, it could already give a good help for players, especially the ones that prefer driving HUDless.

I mean it's not a 100% correct alternative for EBuLa (and this also what I don't want it to be, that's important to say) but it would be so helpful already, instead of either a screen with absolutely no helpful information at all or in some locos even a completely blank and blacked out screen.

And since this is a feature which is already in game, I don't see a reason why this shouldn't be possible to be displayed on the EBuLA sceen.

Here is what I mean. Basically replicating the timetable information, on the EbuLa screen, so that we can see on it directly within the cab.

In the ÖBB 4024, the screen is even left completely blacked out:

This would be a great idea to bridge the time until we get something in a real EBuLa style.

In this regard, I was also thinking if it would not be possible to have the top right part of the HUD, which indicates the route ahead, orientated in a horizontal layout and also add it to the EBuLa screen. Most of the stuff you want to see in addition to what you have mentioned above would then also be displayed (ie stations / plattforms, signals and speed changes).

As far as I know, this part of the HUD can only see until the next red signal, which would mean that the screen would change ahead if a signal changes from red to green, however, it would at least give some kind of immersion, as the HUD does not give any immersion at all...

In regards to the distance, obviously the HUD can give a realistic readout of the route ahead in distance as well. As Hectometer signs are spaced out in 200m intervals one could think about giving the distance of those indicated landmarks to your current position (counting down) in a 200m rounded accuracy.

Just an idea I had when trying to find quick and dirty solutions. Not sure how easy this would be to implement, but probably not much harder to add then your idea as well.

    I am talking about this:

the original suggestion with your improvements would be excellent indeed (even though the current combo of miniHUD + track monitor + dials/gauges is pretty neat for the time being) :)

this all has some nice amount of data in it, as I use the distance and speed to determine when I feel like applying the brakes... I have even made a couple charts - one lists mph to kmh with the most common speed limits from 5 to 170mph I think, the other features distances in meters, yards and feet - I tend to have units on auto so they match the in-loco dials, but I still think in meters and need that to determine when I should start braking... if you want, I can provide them here once I get home :) they are originally spreadsheets converted into pdf and then into images - that way I could use em in a gallery widget on my phone... so when I do UK or US routes, I turn it on my phone display and when needed to read it :)

Absolutely supporting this idea! Having to switch the timetable on and off is a nuisance, and this solution would make all those currently less than decorative EBuLa screens useful. :D

For vehicles which don't have those screens (thinking in particular of the 363, 365 or the older 628), the current t-key version could be kept.

Yesss! That's always a big hassle for me, too. That's why I came up with this idea and making the decorative EBuLa useful. :)

Oh yes. But I didn't meant to replace the T-key visuals. I just want to have them replicated on the EBuLa screen, in the same way you can have the navigation screen HUD not being apparent on the screen but on the smartphone, Tomtom or just the dedicated navigation screen at the dashboard in ETS2.

would be a great idea if it showed stuff miniHUD + track monitor does, since the idea of Ebula is to give the driver information they need to drive properly :) ... those data are shown by the game anyway, so the game can track those, so maybe find a way to show em on the Ebula screen instead of actual game screen

expert 101 showed us that Ebula screen CAN be used for different purposes... and this could be used not only on German/Austrian routes, but also (currently) inactive screens on UK and US locos (at least those that dont have ATC/ACSES)
