I know folks often show appreciate for individual modders in threads about specific mods, but last night as I was playing I reflected on the amount of additional time and effort (that a bunch of people I've never met) have given me for free, in order to enhance my experience of the game. So looking through my DLC folder, I wanted to just take a few moments to create this post to say thank you. Foobian (not sure if they have an account on here) bescot JetWash Aran I know there are many more modders who have contributed a lot, but these are the folks whose work I've been using personally. So without turning this into a thread about how DTG should have done this in the first place, etc (it's a valid perspective, but has also been expressed in many other places), I'm interested in hearing about other modders who create mods that people here use.
I've personally have had amazing times with redstoneia147#1089's EP's and other mods. Hannah Hermine's NJ and other skins and mods have made my routes so much better too. I am deeply saddened the editor doesn't like me having mods so I am forced to play without them.
You can't have a mod appreciation thread and not have one fantastic person that works really hard to provide AP quality sounds to TSW for FREE. https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/user/its-ya165/uploads ItsYa165 a big thank you for all the hard work buddy!!! Your sounds completely change the driving experience. Even the boring 377 / 387 becomes a joy with your packs !
I wish DTG would recognise the modders in some way. I can quite honestly say I’ve never bought a DLC because of any of the so called Ambassadors (much as I enjoy some of their streams). I have bought DLC because of the work of modders. Including all the ones mentioned in the OP and a lot of others. These are the people that should be given the free keys! They are enhancing and promoting the game. Making it look, sound and play better. (and off topic, but make Ambassador’s pay for their DLC and see if they still put out the same positive content). I can honestly say that without God Mode and Jetwash’s Ini changes DTG wouldn’t have sold any of their recent DLC to me. So thank you to all modders whether it’s something like god mode or a fix to an old TSC scenario that DTG never bothered with. You are the guy’s adding value to the community and I really appreciate it.
Agreed. from EP's and bug fixes to Reskins and timetables. if there were a possibility for just a few of those mods to make it into the actual game it would improve so much
We need more modders for TSW and DTG can be proud and feel blessed to have these people enhancing their products. In a way that I would say just giving them free keys isn't even enough. DTG should hire and pay them properly because they work in a similar way the official developer of DTG and third party do, but absolutely get nothing back for their glorious work. DTG, hurry up! Don't let opportunities run off your hands and sign them, before they run away and find something more profitable to work for.
The work modders do is honestly amazing especially when they do better than DTG. Modders show the potential this game has if devs were given more time to add polish and weren't restricted to self imposed company deadlines.
The modding side of US content have decently made things better than what DTG or Skyhook ever done.... Such as KitKat's BNSF SD70ACe mod adding an ISO cab and correct numbers.... https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...tches/i3424-njp-bnsf-sd70ace-enhancement-pack ngc's Cane Creek mod which changes the UP AC44 into something actually decent looking. https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...reek-enhancement-pack-v15-incl-beta-16-update Lunamoon's and NGC's ATSF F7 custom freight pack https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...sim-world-3-atsf-f7-custom-rolling-stock-pack Lunamoon's and NGC's Clinchfield Alternate livery pack. https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...i3347-clinchfield-railroad-alternate-liveries Among other as well as the sound enhancement mods. Its a shame though, that some of those mods and modders are left in the dust as TSW4 modified the way files are handled and completely broke some of those mods, and they aren't or will never be updated for TSW4......
Fortunately, KitKat did a TSW4 update for his BNSF EP. I must say, this one really does expose a lack of effort on DTG's part. I usually defend the devs, but getting the road numbers right literally means typing in two variable parameters; and the "ISO" cab for our purposes boils down to the rubber insulating strip across the nose, not exactly an Olympic-standard graphics challenge. The ngc mods, sadly, are obsolete. (Having said that, the BNSF SD70 is nearly useless to drive, because it can't control ES44s in either MU or DPU)
