I’m biased as it’s my local route from my childhood days, but at 28 miles it’s not too challenging for a developer. A common complaint about routes is the “linear nature”. The Styal line could be included with the spur to Manchester Airport, considerably extending route mileage and service variations. The quiet Middlewich spur could be included as well for some freight services. Also Freightliner services use the route to access Trafford Park. Ideally I’d like this to be set at the end of the BR era. Regional Railways class 323s, class 86/87s etc, however with the good selling routes being modern, and a modern Man Picc already modelled, it would be easier to set the route as per current real life. I do shudder (pardon the pun) at the possible lag as a detailed Crewe station loads in on my humble XBox S though. I’ve watched enough videos of WCML on TSC to see the frame rate hit that all that infrastructure creates. Plenty of rolling stock possibilities on this route though I think. Let me know your thoughts!
It's a good route and you have a viaduct that was made famous by Harry Styles of all people though it is also one of the most scenic viaduct crossings in the UK imo. Plenty of rolling stock options that can be used which would make this route hard to tire of.
I lived on the Crewe via Stockport to Manchester section of the line in the early 50s and would welcome this part in the game.
I'd like to see them in the game, also the spectacular Harringworth viaduct, maybe as part of a MML package?
