So long as it’s optional, I don’t care. If it’s mandatory (and TSC isn’t). I’m out.

I don’t see any need to worry yet.

Okay the First two "Enough is Enough"(The TSW 4 and Rivet Games) Threads were necessary and actually fun to engaging.... But the rest like this is unnecessary... The subscriptions haven't even come to TSW....

So is this going to be the new thread a lot of people are going to get their knickers all twisted and bunched up over, especially as most of it will be just their assumptions of how things will work without knowing the full facts. This should be a interesting read........

DTG announced that they will be having subscriptions as an option for the upcoming Train Simulator Classic 2024 update/release. Which does point that they may want to bring that over to TSW in the future.

Right now only thing known is price and the fact you will only be able to access what DTG picks for the subscription. It is also an optional feature, not standard. yet

So funny seeing people just now talking about subscription services. This seems to be an announcement for Train Simulator (Classic), as TS2024 is dropping sooner or later.
Somewhere a subscription service was mentioned.
This is not related to TSW, but TSC, ask a moderator to get your thread moved.

It's purely optional. Nothing wrong with testing if it works - no one's forced to use this.

Just before we all get excited, may I provide a reminder of what JD said when people were concerned about the possibility of a TSW subscription. Also, based on my comprehension, it seems to solely be to aid newer players.

(I'm just going to copy/paste what I wrote in another thread, hope that's okay)

    Hey all,

just wanted to jump in real quick to address some of the fears about the optional TSC 2024 subscription model.

First things first, please make sure to read the FAQ as it will answer most questions you might have.
Obviously, a subscription is not for everyone, and we're not going to remove any other purchase models; so you will continue to be able to purchase content in the same way you've always done on TSC.
The subscription is mainly aimed at people that are either new to the game or don't own a lot of AddOns already. It's a good way to test out things that look interesting without commiting fully to a full-price purchase.

Nothing changes for those of you on the other end of the spectrum, that own a lot of AddOns. Nothing you already own will be taken away.

I hope I was able to allay some of your fears.

    All the best,
    Jan

Yes, read it but ultimately we all know this will feed into any ‘new’ version of TSW. Are DTG becoming the new EA? If this is about money perhaps consider stopping giving your Ambassadors multiple format keys and indeed I know of a couple of Ambassadors that dont even stream your new content!
Considering that a lot of your content/dlc never has error & bugs fixed - only empty promises that they will be a subscription model is even harder to swallow!

They said they wouldn't do a subscription I can't link to the post right now but JD and I think Matt stated it somewhere.

And I believe them because it wouldn’t make sense to introduce an subscription only modell.

If the subscription is only optional, I would have nothing against it other than it probably occupies space for bug fixes if it doesn’t work for some users.

Firstly, I just wanna say, that whilst the "enough is enough" threads are fun to watch, they get named that way too much.

I think there should be just one thread, and that's the original.

Now, onto the subscription for TSC, DTG perhaps could be testing the water here, to see if a subscription service would be successful or not, thus they are using TSC for this specific reason.

However, if this subscription goes all well, and becomes a successful thing for new players alike, then this could be very possible for the TSW franchise as well...

Here we go again! Mountain out of a molehill, tempest in a teapot.

The new optional subscription model is for TSC not TSW and if it comes to TSW as a option then so be it, it won't affect us.

If it became mandatory, which I suspect the chances of that happening are vanishingly small, then I shall be worried. However, I suspect DTG know it isn't that popular and wouldn't force it on users. And, if they do, then it obviously isn't as unpopular as we might wish to think it is.

  34. so we are now complaining about a feature for another game that is optional and routes can still be purchased separately? And there is absolutely no hint that it will come to TSW? And it if it comes in the same form, it will not be required for future DLC? Wow this game has the best community!

I'd say it's because humanity can't seem to survive a day without filling it's nappy with some poo. Gone are the day of rational thinking and common sense, in fact does anyone even remember the good ol' days of common sense anymore......

Is there a functional difference between replies that agree with the premise of the thread and replies questioning the need for the thread? Either way, it's attention.
