Ain't we meant to be the saddest nerds on the planet tho, you know us train loving folks, so there's going to be no waving, we never have any friends.......:D :D :D

One player driving the other being a guard, would be a great game to hop on to, chill with a friend and then just chat for a while
Alternatively, shunting scenarios you could have a Shunter and a Shunter-driver

Another similar idea would be to have a large freight train come in, a shunter pick apart the train and then get the next ready.

I think if multiplayer were to happen i think it should be private sessions instead of large servers, it would leave you open to people who just want to cause issues XD

Yeah, but how about passengers? And playing together even if you wave at a friend in passing, it is still a good thing.

After using it in both SimRail and Run 8 I see no great merit other than the social side. And SimRail have now apparently clamped down on that and insisting on essential comms only. You end up driving the same stretch of route if you can’t find a train you want elsewhere on the network. Once you come off that’s it, no continuity. And as we know, the SP side of SimRail has been sacrificed to focus on MP.

Run 8, whose developers at least realised the importance of a decent SP game, wasn’t much better. Joined a MP session, spawned a train. My attempts to join in the “chat” were stonewalled by the good old boys’ club. Parked my train up in the SVJR Yard at Bakersfield intending to return and carry on in MP later on, to find when I returned someone had deleted it.

    No more MP for me.

This worries me a lot, if TSW5 is made on UE5 and the all previous dlc from 4 can't be port to TSW5 because of UE5, I'm probably done whit this game, i'm wonder if i buy one PS5 can solve this or not

Yes, sadly you get the A hole side of multiplayer and how to make it work. I think you need friends to play with you rather than random yo yo's who will ruin it for everybody, but that is the fact with most MP games. I am still not giving up thou, I can still hope and dream

I have a ps5 and no, Dovetail explain on a stream, you can put TSW into unreal 5, but all you are doing is moving an unreal 4 game into 5, it will still be a unreal 4 game and it won't use any of the features of unreal 5. So nearly a complete rebuild, plus the DLC's then. A subscription service might pay for all this work, but then do players want a subscription service?

A subscription model for what? If they start with UE5 you probably might be lucky there are 3 routes available. Why would I want a subscription for that?

As said previously, if DTG ever moved to a subscription service for TSW, that would be the end of my interest in the game.

Yes, Dovetail would have to rebuild the whole thing, so the amount of services you get would be low, but they also might just port over the old DLCs without unreal 5 mods, but again the DLCs would be falling further behind. NTP is like previous generation pre TSW, for that to then be place against new unreal 5 DLC...Errr it wouldn't be good. The subscription model would be a way of funding the upgrades or they could charge again for the DLCs? Even if Dovetail sold TSW 5 at top price, it wouldn't cover the cost of upgrading all the DLCs. TSW has become too big for its own good, we have had the good of this, but when it comes to upgrading, it makes it a nightmare.

Yeah, that is why Dovetail asked fans about subsciption service, they are looking for a finacial model to pay for TSW.

Yeah, players don't want a subscription service, but every year Dovetail bring out a newer version of TSW with all new wonderful features, but not much different from the previous version and players go and buy, but you are kinda paying a subscription by other means.

Well they’re adding a subscription service to TSC’s next release so I guess how well it’s received there may influence what they do here

The thing is that I spend more on TSW on a month than I would pay for a subscription per month. I think most of the users spend more buying than they would "renting' it. I can't see a reasonable price for a subscription that would surpass earnings from DLC's for TSW at this point.

as someone who owns all tsw with all their respective dlcs I say that tsw4 was definitely the last game in the tsw franchise for me as there is no doubt that yes, tsw5 is on the way and that it will feature this "pleasant" surprise (we will be lucky if any of the dlcs already released in previous tsw are ported to the new tsw subscription edition)
btw, the future of the gaming industry is scary since, for example, rockstar games could implement something along the same lines for grand theft auto 6

I'm not worried about TSW 5 getting a subscription model at all. TSC is PC. It's not that hard anymore to set up a subscription service for Windows based games. It's not that easy to pull off on consoles. I can't see DTG setting up a subscription service that would be approved by either Sony or Microsoft or DTG being able to even market a subscription service to console users if it was approved.

The question should not be if TSW get's a subscription mode. The question should be if TSW finally get's a career mode

Yes, I think the jig is up in terms of TSW because every time a new version comes out, Dovetail struggle to get the old DLCs onto the new/just launched TSW, it takes days/weeks. Dovetail at the mo are just putting old DLCs onto the newer version of the game, but not doing any update to the DLCs and they have done this through several versions of TSW to the point that some DLCs are just so out of date that it would take some serious man hours to update them. Dovetail had a back cataloge team that were going to keep the old DLCs updated and then that team got reassigned to do other things i.e create new DLCs to generate extra money flow and I get it, TSW is created by a buisness that has to make money to survive. I don't own all DLCs, but I have a large amount of them and if I can't bring my DLCs with me, then I won't buy a new TSW and Dovetail know this, but the writing is on the wall for TSW. Rockstar have made loads of money and have the resources to do more than Dovetail. What the pleasent surpise is? A New Train Game, so they can move on from TSW and the large DLCs collection.

I've said this for a while now: a Guard + Driver co-op would be really fun in TSW.
    Otherwise, no point.

On the subject of UE5, it's somewhat of a relief they didn't jump on the UE5 train immediately with everyone else, as it took Epic until the freshly released UE5.4 to deliver a 50% framerate boost on console and other multicore CPUs by sorting the engine's multithreading problems.

Plus, y'know, Shader Compilation is still garbage even on their flagship title.

Ooof. That looks worse than the 1999 Rally Championship from Magnetic Fields.

Magnetic Fields... rings a bell? Haven't they made the Lotus Turbo Challenge series on the Amiga, boy that was fun :). And a catchy soundtrack... The Amiga is still the only machine that has something I'd describe as a "soul" - it was a great machine with superior custom chips at that time, made by crazy hippies (and ruined by lame management). Had an A500 and an A1200 68030+68882FPU@50MHz. I cared more for games and music than for girls when I was 16 :D :D :D kind of a late bloomer...

and whoever says this is correct, I have a subway simulator game called SubwaySim Hamburg and it is in Unreal Engine 5 and has as many problems with choking, bottlenecks, freezing and framerate drop as TSW, so the conclusion we can draw from this is: no, it wouldn't change absolutely nothing in this performance issue, change the version of the unreal engine, it would only change the fact that all the dlcs are left behind because it is not possible to port them
So this talk about tsw's performance problems existing because it is in Unreal Engine 4 and that by changing to Unreal Engine 5 all performance problems will magically be resolved is nothing more than fantasy and illusion

But, but, 5 is bigger than 4! Surely it must be better!

    (Clue, not necessarily.)

Yeah it performs terribly, and looks mediocre as well, it has this weird ghosting effect on anything that moves that I cannot stand. Too bad, fun game that has potential.
