Just curious, but will Dovetail be expanding on current networks? As an example, could there be a potential branch expansion for the LIRR route, such as Far Rockaway, Port Washington, Oyster Bay lines, just to name a few…maybe we could see the new Elmont station and third track dropped in…
Any expansion to LIRR 2 is unlikely as it’s been out for like a week + they had the opportunity to things like the 3rd track but didn’t
So, we're talking about extending a route that has just been released. Isn't there plenty more which are more deserving of an extension of some sort.
Extensions mean new products which completely replace the original. It's not possible to do an extension on its own DLC and "add" it to the bit you already have. Keep that in mind when asking for extensions Matt.
in that case i'm going to suggest York to Peterborough to replace Doncaster to Peterborough.. and i'd happily buy that again as a new product to replace the existing route!
Not sure what’s happening with Fife but SEHS was technically new since it re-released with TSW 3 and the extension to Ashford and Dartford
Fife was said to be having an extension, I presume that’s still the plan, I haven’t seen anything as of yet to say otherwise. DTG have to rebuild the timetable and route set-up etc then release it as a standalone route for any extensions, it’s not a full rebuild to what I know but in many areas is, any showing of the old scenery or a repeat of something odd is usually the tell tale sign not everything has been redone 100%.
Isn’t the rail for the Leven branch more or less laid, so would just be doing the scenery rather than an extension from scratch? Think I heard that, but don’t own it to check.
i think this is right, i believe the track is laid it just needs opening up and the scenery built, so it's not a literal extension but rather the unlocking of currently closed off, yet already laid, track that needs the scenery built around it
Southeastern is a new product. SEHS was left in TSW2, and SEHS2 released with TSW3. Fife, not sure. Maybe a Meißen/MML job where the track is there?
I know the LIRR just released but given the amount of branches the LIRR has IRL and the generally good feedback, I’d hope in a year or so they can release an additional extension.
Leven extension will be an in-place upgrade to the existing route, which can only be done as a free update. There are two options available with an extension - you can do a free in-place upgrade to the existing route or you can charge by copying it all to a new route and selling the sum total. Those are the only two options. For a small bit of work or work that was already decided to be done, it's not a hard decision to just put it out as a free upgrade, like Meissen. But if it's a substantial amount of work then it really can't be free - in which case you've got to go the "whole new product, everyone buys it again" route, like LIRR and SEHS. Matt.
Wouldn't it be possible to make the tracks for free and a separate DLC that is used on those new tracks ? Eg: The Oyster Bay Branch for free and the DE/DM 30 AC as a separate DLC
