So i just reinstalled TSC as i have a ton of dlc for it but even running in exp dx12 and the settings at highest it looks terrible am i doing something wrong?
Don't run the experimental version. Use default 64bit. Also - what is "terrible"? Provide screenshots.
Did that it helped a bit i think whats making it worse is coming off the back of playing TSW4 im expecting something from the game and i forget its like a decade-ish old
Haha fair enough mate, you have to remember Train Simulator Classic is labeled "Classic" for a reason! However; if you sink some money in for enhancements you can improve the games graphics a whole lot. Even just ReShade which is a free shader program for any game with lots of settings to play around with can improve things a lot.
Have a look at this thread what can be made of the TSC platform (consider it more a platform than a game). https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/train-simulator-classic-screenshots.54151/page-38
In that screenshot; the stock DLC is the Chatham Main Line - London-Gillingham Route published on Steam by Dovetail Games with the Southeastern Class 375 in the screenshot coming from that route as well. For the enhancements; in this screenshot this is what you can see applied: Armstrong Powerhouse Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 - Paid DLC from Armstrong Powerhouse's website that vastly when installed vastly improves all types of weather but only applies to UK Routes. However, you can mess around with the game files to apply it to other routes as well. That process is mostly simple and isn't too much of a hassle; but is more trouble with older routes or routes with unclear files if that makes sense. Armstrong Powerhouse Cloud Enhancement Pack - Paid DLC from Armstrong Powerhouse's website that is an add-on to the Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 which you need for this one to work. It's mainly an extreme improvement on cloud formations that couldn't be included in the Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 on release and looks very real. However for some it isn't really necessary since the Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 does the job just fine for most. If you install this it essentially just becomes "stuck" to any AP weather files if that makes sense, so what I'm getting at here is that if you move or have already moved AP Weather Files to other route folders that aren't from the UK you don't have to do anything extra for the clouds to work. Armstrong Powerhouse Vegetation Enhancement Pack - Paid DLC from Armstrong Powerhouse's website that improves vegetation on most UK routes. I haven't found a way to apply it to non-UK routes but I don't really intend to do that since places away from the UK mostly have very different vegetation anyway. It's not entirely necessary as base vegetation in most routes does just fine for most people. ReShade - Free program from the ReShade website that allows you to apply it to any game of your choosing with many shaders to mess with to make the game look much better. Be warned; it is very complicated when you first see it but don't be overwhelmed! To start off there are a few shader presets for ReShade people have already made that you can download and use for Train Simulator Classic where you can either keep it on their settings, or tweak it slightly from their own settings to get what you like. This works game-wide, even applying shaders on the menu! There are also additional enhancements I use that aren't seen in that previous screenshot I posted. One of which is: Armstrong Powerhouse Signal Enhancement Pack - Paid DLC from Armstrong Powerhouse's website that replaces almost all UK based railway signals with vastly improved versions that look better, more detailed and function more realistically. Like the Vegetation Enhancement Pack though it's entirely an optional thing for most, you definitely don't need it for the game to look really good as the base signals work and look just fine but the AP Enhancement certainly does add an extra layer of immersion for UK routes. The signals from the enhancement pack can be see in the screenshot below. Armstrong Powerhouse Track Enhancement Pack - Paid DLC from Armstrong Powerhouse's website. The Track Enhancement Pack applies to most UK routes and some German / Austrian routes too; it replaces the basic mostly 2D tracks from most UK routes with better looking 3D based tracks. Some people like it and some people don't, I really like it and I think it enhances most UK routes to a great degree. You can also improve this Track Enhancement Pack even further with a free DLC from the Alan Thomson Sim website that is like a Texture Pack for the AP Track Enhancement which I use as seen below: There are also other popular enhancements for Train Simulator Classic out there such as the RW Enhancer programs which currently is a series of 3 paid programs from the RW Central website: RW Enhancer RW Enhancer Pro RW Enhancer 2 I don't use RW Enhancer anymore since I find ReShade does the job better for free if you know how to tweak it well. RW Enhancer is sort of like ReShade but only for Train Simulator Classic and is a shader enhancement that affects the entire game and is much easier to tweak than ReShade. RW Enhancer Pro is probably the best one, includes lots of great shader features and easy to use. RW Enhancer 2 is still in Early Access and includes mostly the same graphics enhancements but also lots of audio enhancements and other Quality of Life features for the game, however last time I tried using it the Quality of Life features were rather laggy. The audio enhancements were quite good and customisable; but require you to use the Quality of Life features to activate properly which I mentioned were quite laggy... So if I was going to go back to using RW Enhancer; it would probably be RW Enhancer Pro for me. It's also worth mentioning how good you can get your game looking and run relatively smoothly most of the time (for me that would be a nice 20-30fps which I am fine with) depends on your PC's specs and possibly monitor too. I hope this helps!
Use the AP enhancement packs, then use ReShade to fine tune things and the old chap we all know and love can look extremely nice indeed.
I also have a Reshade preset (I basically used Pookeyhead's shader as a basis and then heavily modified it. This is the result: You can grab it here: https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...her/i3946-ph-un-kiro0s-tas-reshade-preset-v60
If you're still having issues, post screenshots of your game's graphics settings and we can help out. There is a bit of a sweet spot for TS settings, but once found the game can look lovely.
If it isn't fixed yet, try different anti-aliasing options. There is one version of AA (can't remember which one) which is implemented horribly in TSC and results in a blurry mess like you're describing.
Hmmm, on closer inspection on those screenshots, it doesn't look like you have AP weather installed on those routes, you need to install it Manually on US and German routes.
Install reshade go into game press the appropriate button for reshade to pop up and nothing happens yet it works in TSW$
Did you choose the write API Renderer when installing it for TS Classic? TSC is a Direct X 9 game; not 12 like modern games, unless you play the Direct X 12 Beta of TSC. Also there are 3 “program applications” for the game and I think it matters which one you apply it to; they’re all labeled Railworks I believe. One will just simply be Railworks; that’s the regular 32 bit version of the game. If you play the 64 bit version of the game; select the Railworks application that should be labeled with something like “64”. The third one is for the DX12 beta I believe and will be labeled as such. This is the only thing I can think of for why it’s not working at all for you in TSC.
Nope that wont start either im following all the instructions ive tried shift f2 and home and no dice
If you want to use my preset, you have to extract the .ini file into your railworks folder after you install reshade.
When you installed reshade, did you use the DX9 option and select Railworks64 (not the experimental version).
Ok i uninstalled tsc and reshade and wiped everything from my HDD, then i reinstalled the only problem im having now is reshade isnt seeing your preset
Probably didn’t need to uninstall TSC, should’ve just uninstalled And reinstalled re-shade. My preset is in a 7zip file. The .ini It needs to be extracted Into your main Railwork folder
