The next roadmap will come on 6th June. Here's the stuff I'd love to hear about a little more: BR 218 (TSG) Since the last roadmap it's clear that the 218 will be released pretty soon. We don't have a date, yet and I'm not asking for one. All I ask for is: Can we get a few new screenshots of the 218? The may roadmap featured screenshots that were taken on the same "screenshot session" for the April roadmap. So these are now 2 months old. The 218 has been criticised a bit because the 3D model looked a bit off. So it would be great to know if anything on the 218 changed. BR 101 Expert and Cab car (TSG) The 101 Expert is also like the 218 in the 0-3 months section. So a release until august is likely. Can we have a look into the interior of the cab car? I believe we've only seen the outside of it. But showing us the inside of this beauty would be great! Also can you talk about substitution and how it works with the 101 layers we already have ingame? Köln - Aachen timetable (DTG) This one is already for a long time in development and I believe it's already finished. (edit: it's not finished at all! Thanks for the answer, matt!) Can we get the reason why the release takes so long? Is it QA or beta testing? Or is it waiting to be released together with the 218, 101 expert and/or the 420? Also: Does it have a layer for these locos? German Loco DLC (SimTrack) This one is in the 4-6 months section of the roadmap since February. Which is 4 months ago. So actually in this roadmap I expect it to be now in the 0-3 months section. By now it would be great to find out which loco it is or at least give us a hint for which route it will have a timetable layer Other 3rd parties Since a few months we know about RSSLO, RailTraction, Ticket to the north, Halycon being now official 3rd parties. There are more, but these ones will do german and austrian content for sure. Can we get a little more insights into these new 3rd parties? What are they doing? How long are they already part of the 3rd party programme? What are they most excited about? Anything? And are there more 3rd parties to announce?
We’ll likely hear about the 218 & expert 101 but last time I heard not much progress had been made with the Köln - Aachen timetable, Joe is quite busy. I also don’t expect much new info on new 3rd party projects, the editor is quite complex so it’ll be quite the learning curve even for seasoned professionals, they aren’t likely to share any of the content they plan on making
Following some misses lately (more than you're aware of, and for all kinds of perfectly valid reasons) we're adopting a much more cautious approach to talking about 3rd party content going forwards, so until we see a first build of it internally we're likely not going to be going into much detail. On that basis, I'd expect a little bit of a lull from that side for the time being, but rest assured there's a lot of work going on behind the scenes - the number of developers we're working with now directly is considerable and there's tons of active projects. We've had more than one however where when we see the first build, and can feed back on technical and structural issues with their approach in one case they opted to scrap and start again, and others are slowly picking through to fix the issues. This is as much a learning process for us as it is for the developers as we're used to a set process that we've evolved over many years and sometimes unaware of how other devs may find other ways to do things that prove to cause issues so we'll be enhancing documentation and communication as this process continues. Koln timetable isn't finished, Joe's been busy, very busy, on other projects like Cathcart's timetable rebuild. It's not being delayed to align with any loco releases. Matt
I'm hoping for some news regarding the Xbox audio. I remember Matt saying last time, that they were testing a build with higher quality audio.
i'd just like to add my views on this and say thank you Matt, i personally find it really helpful and useful when you jump in and give us a little insight into how things are (or sometimes aren't) progressing, for me it shows that you and the team really care about the product and the future developments that are to come.. so i for one do appreciate you taking the time to give us updates on the state of play, so thank you Matt! Katia (ps the timetable update Joe is working on for Cathcart sound really exciting, looking forward to finding out more about what's to come in that respect!)
Getting a feeling the Class 104 DMU might be one of those projects that has "gone back to the drawing board." However I do agree that it's best not to over announce what's been worked on, wait at least until late alpha or even early beta stage. Been there myself, used to proclaim loudly on various forums what route I was working on next in TSC or Trainz only to end up in the dustbin.
So we should tamp down our expectations of those Roadmap entries labeled " Release Date To Be Announced ", which are pretty much all 3rd party projects. If you cut out those projects it doesn't leave much on the last Roadmap barring a possible Summer bundle announcement.
I'm pretty much convinced that San Bernardino will be the US offering in a 3 route Summer bundle. My understanding is that it's already in the can.
I think the same, san bernardino line as US content, UK route (also from 4-6 month section) as UK content and new or some existing german route that will be extended (just like it was done with SEHS in tsw3)
Hoping that we get more info or maybe the release date about BR 218, Class 380 and expert 101, and the most important, more info about the Suspension Improvements. DTG said there would be a larger update on Suspension on June, so waht would update look like, and what loco would received update.
Well I hate to be thinking glass half empty, but given the 3D model was shown off months ago, obviously texturing needs to be done, the physics and sounds probably templated if not copied and pasted from the Class 101, it still seems odd no more definite information or more advanced screenshots of the 104 actually in game have emerged. Happy to stand corrected of course as along with the 218, the one upcoming release that might get me to fire up TSW again.
Hopefully a release date for the 380 and cathcart upgrade, a new uk route confirmation and maybe a teaser from the new JT route
Have you tried resending the mail? Maybe their 3rd party team is very busy due to the amount of 3rd parties. Maybe the responsible persons were on annual leave and then just missed your mail? I'm sure if you contact them again, talk a bit about your project and show them what you're capable of, they'll come back to you!
Hopefully a locomotive release in June and maybe a reveal of a route, or two, in the making would be appreciated and excite the community, even if the release date is a few months away. Gives us something to look forward to.
Thankfully something did finally happen probably as an reaction to my previous comment above. So I deleted it. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything at all. Let's see what happens. Just to say: I think to keep the thread on topic again we can delete all of our related comments. (I also will delete this here once I saw you received the info and did it).
Would like to have some progress (or maybe even an announcement) on the BR 218 and expert BR 101 and IC cab car. One thing I would like to also see is some progress on third party projects (or even only the announcement of those being part of the third party programme). And maybe Alex could do an eye on the amazing timetable projects in the PC Editor Forum. Because not only routes deserve to be mentioned in the Roadmap stream, also the incredible timetable projects (where a few also already have been published).
There’s not much ON the roadmap for me to be excited about. The Fife improvements… should happen anyway. Be nice to know what the “New UK Route” and “New DE Loco” are but without knowing… can’t be excited. The only things of any interest to me are months away, and only the Tadami has a name on it. The PFR/104 might be interesting but again it's not "on" the roadmap yet technically so... meh. Until things are fleshed out, I'll keep puttering on the content I have. edit: I guess the question was what do you WANT to see on the roadmap... which would be actual timelines and details on the "to be decided" stuff.
Are teasers out of the question still? Fairly new here and only saw teasers once, around December. Foolishly assumed they’d be every few months or so!
Teasers are either just for very special things, or on April 1st as a fool (though teasers have always been real so far), but not for every roadmap unfortunately.
What we really need back are the JD blunders and oops moments, complete with stony silence and glare from Matt.
104 always sounded different than a 101, a lot more raspy exhaust. Took a trip a few years ago at Llangollen and it brought it all back. Very unique sound.
Just hope it's better than last time..albeit I am not saying last month was bad, particularly with including class 380 news etc. But still. Want to see the new UK routes teased
They'd have a job to make it less interesting than last month for me. Though I have said that already this year and been proven it is possible!
I'd like to know when Formation Designer is going to be released in full? (I'd also like a truthful explanation of what it is that has held it up for so long). The same applies to Suspension but, for me, that is less important than having the ability to mix and match rolling stock without having to go through the modding process.
I really think last month’s roadmap represented the calm before the storm. There are dozens of add-ons (1st and especially 3rd party) that have been in development for many months now and should be close to release. If there’s a TSW5, we can look at the last two release periods and realize that in the 1-2 months before and after the game’s release, no notable DLCs were released (before: no desire to release content for a game that will become obsolete immediately; after: developers focused on improving the core game instead of immediately pivoting to add-ons). That means all of the projects that are in good shape now will probably get released soon. I’m expecting proper release periods for many of the upcoming DLCs in this roadmap, although I’m not sure if we’ll get more details on the stuff we currently lack any concrete info on (e.g. those routes/locos where only the country is known), since that will probably be reserved for the TSW5 announcement.
One small thing I'd like to know about is when is this going to be fixed? (Community liveries on the HST in the snow). Very annoying.
