    The OP is correct though, only in TSW would you get the ECML turned into a virtual branch line, or the Cornish line from Penzance stopped abruptly and without logical reason at St Austell instead of continuing through to Plymouth, whilst the Falmouth branch is forgotten about. Or the Bernina line chopped halfway. It’s what TSW does, frustrate its players by shortening routes down to frustrating levels.
    Like I've said before, TS doesn’t do this and gives you value for money. Not to mention filling up the route with rolling stock so you get the complete experience. I almost get the feeling that here DTG want to give us the bare minimum they can get away with, whilst TS is in stark contrast. Don’t even get me started on the miserly one unit per game that they have now slimmed us down to. This has happened since the original game launched when we got two. It’s like they’ve put us on a crash diet. Ideally in their world the perfect route contains one EMU that is very close in looks to another and drives the same, and a simple linear route from A to B. Not much work there for the devs, but a nice juicy selling price.

    That's definitely something I don't like about TSW too, but I think that it is great when we do get complete services, or services that operate between the relief points of a real train driver as ECML and Great Western are definitely too short. I can only imagine the development hours that go into those short routes with the level of graphical detail and all the non driving stuff that goes into TSW, and just how far detailed scenery sometimes extends. It seems like in concept TSW could never provide a feasible game concept to make and sell the longer routes but perhaps there could be a solution;

    I think what is needed is to be able to integrate lines so that the add-ons become part of a route jigsaw so for example: Fife Circle, then another add-on which would be Kirkcaldy to Carnoustie and Perth where the Kirkcaldy overlap would join the Fire Circle and the new add-on together, then perhaps, Dundee to Aberdeen with Dundee as the overlap and at that point with three separately functioning add-on routes joined together you could take an Inter7City, LNER Class 800, or Voyager service all the way from Waverley to Aberdeen.
    The route I've just described is available for OpenBVE in full and I personally enjoy it. With a full timetable and dynamic weather it would be ideal.

    So perhaps as it is TSW is not the train simulator for everyone, especially InterCity fans and perhaps it doesn't need to be; Maybe Train Simulator Classic could be developed on for less graphically intense, cab focused driving with some ideas taken from TSW like timetables, dynamic weather and layering. There is already stuff like Waverley to Newcastle, Glasgow Central to Carlisle, and Plymouth to Penzance as route add-ons which granted do need some improvement.

    Doncaster to York would just have added another 20 or so minutes of unchallenging fast running through bland flat scenery. If DTG do choose to revisit the ECML in TSW at some point, needs to be north of Darlington and south of Edinburgh where you get a bit of curvature, gradients and some moderately interesting scenery.

    I like ECML. It filled two significant voids in the UK content:
    -125 mph electric running north of London
    -125 mph running that doesn't end after 20 minutes

    Couldn’t have put it better myself. DTG do the bare minimum now unfortunately.
    The only reason I still play is because of the mods available - yes, I know that consoles players don’t get them - but without the mods which DTG really should be doing themselves TSW is poor value!

    I think you should consider how you write a forum post, and one without swearing and apparent anger.
    I hope a moderator deletes your post, so that you can re-write it in a more constructive and respectful manner.

    And set it a different time period with some more interesting stock! Perfect chance to add a Deltic seeing as LNER era steam is off the menu.

    As much as how the route itself is really “unchallenging” York as a station itself is interesting enough to be out in a route either way. The amazing canopy and if I ain’t mistaken, some yards that we could store trains at (I am not too sure about does LNER actually store there trains in nearby yards at York).

    And a reply to those who just simply say that this fourm or thread is written or poorly or just outright bad. Admit that your simply a TSW fanboys who likes shuts down other peoples opinion and so that DTG and 3rd parties can get away from what they are doing to their own player base.
