I think DTG should do the North Jersey coastline. Avenel-Bay Head. Rolling stock would look something like this, ALP-45, ALP-46, Multilevels, and Comets. This would add an extra layer of equipment to New York to Trenton as well.
If I were you I would do it as Rahway to Bay Head. If they have the technology to merge two routes then you can do it as North Jersey coastline New York Pen to Bay Head using the Northeast Corridor Trenton to Boston tracks from Rahway to Midtown Manhattan.
What I was saying was make a completely new route ( NJCL) from Graw- Bay head. Then use NY- Trenton layer for the corridor and merge them together. Definitely do able.
