I expected an interesting article about DTG's history. Instead it's just an add for three older TSW routes and their DLC's: GWE, RSN and CJP. Not worth the read IMHO. Reading Wikipedia is more interesting.

You mean you didn't enjoy an article that only serves to highlight that Train Sim World launched with cut down versions of routes already available in Train Simulator?

Looping round Didcot to head up to Oxford being the most interesting part of the Paddington to Oxford route, that got drastically cut off at Reading, a trend that was set to continue.

Yawn, can we please stop this annoying TSC vs. TSW chit-chat? There might be reasons for everyone, why they're choosing this or that, can't persuade anyone to suddenly choose the other, just because... . We all have to live with it.

Hey, I still have an installed Ralworks 2012 in a tanning punch on the hard drive. You can even play, although it is not guaranteed stability on Windows 11. I thought from exporting routes to Train Classic 2024 from there, but my hands did not reach

As I've said in other threads, technically the anniversary is incorrect. What is now TSC started out as Kuju Rail Simulator (published by EA) in October 2007. Nearly 17 years ago. So while Railworks evolved along with the formation of its own management company in 2009, the actual core of the programme is slightly older. And yes I was there at the very beginning with KRS!

That's historically correct Vern, but at that time it wasn't DTG's baby. They were only an Addon producer in those days (RSDL).

Did Microsoft celebrate MS-DOS including its original version, QDOS which they bought for 50,000$ from Seattle Computer Products (Tim Paterson) in 1981 to then create their empire based on it (and fooling sleepy IBM management big time with their OEM concept?)

Maybe DTG don't want to point out that the game was not their own development, fair enough. But what they made of it is surely worth celebrating. It would've gone down like MSTS (which received two patches only iirc and was completely carried by the community with custom editors and bin patches) if Jackson hadn't recognized the potential as a DLC platform on Steam. How right he was.

Even the box cover art was better for Railworks. It's all been down hill ever since.

That article is nothing but advertising for TSW, nothing to do with Rail Simulator's history.
Still no Bath - Templecombe or York - Newcastle in TSW. So not much to shout about really.

It is indeed a " brief look ", about a 15 second read. You'd think someone at DTG could have written a thoughtful, interesting history about the evolution of the two games. Or even hired a decent researcher/ writer. But no, it's really just a blurb from the PR department.

As I discovered TSW only a few years ago (because of TSW2) I liked that history article. "Happy Birthday" DTG!

I see it progress from 15 years ago some of the roots from 15 years ago tends to be requested into the game heavily
