Installment 1 in a multiset depiction of an Autumn morning stopping passenger service, from Wycombe to Maidenhead, on Wycombe Branch Steam Workshop route. Our train is headed by a Caledonia Works' GWR "Armstrong" class 4-4-0 tendered steam locomotive, seen in its 1894-1905 livery. It must be said that a route of this size, less than ten miles, would almost certainly never see a train this long, but rather two-to-three coach trains. My excuse for running this configuration is that my original purpose was to test the Armstrong, which I'd not driven in ages, and to gauge the route's screenshot potential. I got carried away, the results seen in this and future installments. Our loco, showing CW's usual attention to detail. Only four Armstrongs were built. They had a short working lifespan of 20 years: Wycombe station: Departing Wycombe: Not having been planned as a postable-capture drive, I failed to annotate station names. Here the train departs interim stop No.1: RWE2, AP S&W2+Clouds TO BE CONTINUED . . .
London Midland Class 350 '350119' of 4 coaches starts just south of Rugby, England located in the United Kingdom following the reds and yellows left behind an empty stock movement and upon pulling into the platforms of Rugby stopping for passengers the train continues on it's late morning journey to Crewe traversing the Trent Valley Line portion of the West Coast Main Line on an overcast Summers day. It is seen traveling approximately 51 miles west to Stafford stopping 5 times in between for passengers at Nuneaton, Atherstone, Tamworth, Lichfield Trent Valley and Rugeley. Part 1 of 2 InterCity Class 86s '86413' and '86418' find themselves in the unique position working a freight service from Coatbridge, Scotland located in the United Kingdom headed for Southampton, England consisting of 20 FSA wagons during a Summers morning. After waiting for a few trains to pass; the service sets off and joins the Shotts Line at Mossend before utilising the Wishaw Deviation and joining the West Coast Main Line traveling as far as Abington due to being pulled over into a siding having traveled approximately 36 miles from Coatbridge. Installment 7 in a multipart chronological depiction of an Autumn morning stopping passenger QuickDrive on Golden Age Developments' freeware West of England Mainline, phase 2, which extends tracks further eastward to Yeovil Town. Our journey begins there, stopping at all stations until the drive terminates at Exeter. Our train is powered by Caledonia Works' rendering of the LSWR 415/0415 class 4-4-2T steam locomotive, commonly known as the Adams Radial Tank. It is seen in Adams Brown livery, pulling six LSWR coaches. The loco proves insufficient for the task, though we finish the run by means I'll divulge at the appropriate time. Yours is definitely prettier than the original: One thing I ponder sometimes, do I want to capture the original setting (with minor changes, like generally upping light levels) or just flat out replace the weather. Even with sticking to stock, I always have the option of a Cloudy Summer Day setting, or a brighter time of day. I particularly thought about this while going through Köln-Koblenz, which is entirely gloom and doom. That said, people often post gloomy shots in the contest, and I randomly watched Jason Momoa's photography episode of On The Roam which is all about working with light. Of courserino it also depends on our experiences, I guess, Kuju gray is home in the UK but for me it's more like yours (AP).

Installment two in a multiset chronological depiction of an Autumn morning passenger run QD between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Picadilly (via Warrington Central). The train consists of Caledonia Works' LNWR Webb Coal Tank No. 1054, in preservation livery, pulling AP MK1 coaches. With this series, I manipulate numerous captures via Paint.NET (freeware image editor), Wondershare Filmora (payware video creation/editor), or both. Sometimes, the goal is to create faux old, often damaged, photos or film stills. Other times, I attempt to improve otherwise decent captures that suffer from lackluster lighting. It is to be stressed that I am no authority on image manipulation or what old images ought to look like. I'm just goofing around. Results vary from halfway decent to barely tolerable, most falling in between, as will be seen. Three slightly manipulated captures of the train stopped at or departing from Mossley Hill station: RWE2, AP S&W2+Clouds+Veggies TO BE CONTINUED . . .
Yes, old weathers are often quite dark. Easy to prove with a histogram. I wonder whether the original designers were sitting in a dark room, using old screens with jacked up brightness. I've just set ambience to +2 and sunlight +1, but arguably ~75% on both might make sense, too. A couple weathers will end up overexposed but that's trendy anyway.

Ninth/concluding installment in a multipart chronological depiction of a mid-summer stopping passenger service QD, from Carlisle to Settle, on DTG Settle to Carlisle route. Prime motivation for the run was to check out the then recently installed AP Veggie Pack. It also came to me that I've never featured Donington's Midland Rwy reskin for CW's GERT26 2-4-0 tendered steam locomotive. According to Rail Map Online, Settle to Carlisle was, in pre-grouping days, part of MidRwy. That, plus an absence of bona fide MR steam locos in my roundhouse, makes the reskin a logical choice. Kirby Stephen station, our penultimate stop: As we near terminus, distant landscape becomes sparse, with an unfinished look to it. Trackside scenery remains appealing thanks to AP's veggie pack. The below were captured within railway cuts, avoiding distant landscape: Being unable to compose a post-worthy image of the train at Settle before the scenario completion countdown timer terminated the session, the above capture brings this series to a close. It's a miserable Autumnal overcast morning in England, United Kingdom during 1955 and British Railways Class EM1 '26021' is tasked with hauling an eastbound empty coal train to Wath on the now long abandoned Manchester-Sheffield-Wath Electric Railway (the Woodhead Line). The train consists of empty 30 mineral hoppers and a brake wagon departing from Dewsnap Railway Yard nearby Manchester and will travel approximately 34 miles to Wath limited to a maximum speed of 45 mph due to the nature of the train mostly being of wagons that aren't brake fitted especially making for a challenge descending the extremely steep Worsborough Bank on the branch line to Wath. With one multi-installment series recently concluded, another is added to the rotation roster. The route is AP's Wherry Lines - Norwich to Greater Yarmouth & Lowestoft, purchased during a recent Steam Sale. To it is added AP's route enhancement pack, acquired during AP's most recent sale (as of Jun 2024). With enhancement in place, this is the most consistently visually appealing route in my possession. So pleasing that I drove and extensively captured images of four passenger runs in rapid succession. This series chronologically showcases the first of those runs, from Norwich to Lowestoft. Motive power is Caledonia Works' "Single-Wheeler" GER P43 4-2-2 tendered steam loco, another recent acquisition, seen in its super-heated coal-burning variant. The train is, admittedly, not ideally suited for stopping passenger duty; the P43 is primarily an express locomotive, the train overlong for the route's often small station platforms. (Coach count is reduced for the remaining three runs.) Norwich station, pre-departure, on a cloudy mid-Autumn day.: RWE2, APS&W2+Clouds+route-enhancement-pack TO BE CONTINUED . . .
