I am a fan of the older railroads which sadly have been lost to time. Milwaukee Road, Chicago & Northwestern, Soo Line, and Wisconsin Central. They were my favorites growing up. So I will have to say that I like the stretch of tracks between Milwaukee and Chicago, mainly for the freight train traffic.

Anywhere that I am and there are rails. But my hometown is Jefferson City, Missouri and we have a pretty busy Union Pacific line that runs through town so that is probably where I spend most of my time. I always enjoy checking out new locations when I'm traveling.
All over Germany's state of NRW pretty much, with a focus on the Cologne region where I live. Because after all, even the longest journey begins at your doorstep, aka home station. Also, occasional excursions to nearby Belgium and Netherlands. Or up the Rhine toward Frankfurt.
