I’ve been seeing reviews about some routes I’ve gotten and let me tell you, I was very disappointed in myself for buying some of them (Glasgow - Edinburg as an example), so I had enough of buying $40 over a DLC and wondering what is the best one. Please tell me why because I don’t want to feel disappointed again.
Blackpool Branches, Midland mainline and ECML PBO-DON are my top three, which I recommend highly to people.
They are certainly worth the money and all offer a different experience. Honestly if these were the only three routes the game had it would be just as enjoyable. Saying that the layers from other DLC, especially on Blackpool, really make them even better. Edit: I would also recommend Northern Trans-Pennine not only for the route, which is lovely, but for the class 45 which is very enjoyable on Blackpool and NTP itself.
I've been clocking a lot of hours on the ECML route lately. There's something about it which keeps pulling me in.
My personal favorite is the northern trans-Pennine line I just love the classic diesel locomotives. I think soon I will buy the Blackpool branch to drive the class 142 locomotive which is my favorite British locomotive ever.
I would probably vote Blackpool Branches Plenty of layers, Ai and all Great variety of trains and stock The big 3 Passenger, Freight and Shunting in one Both express and stopper Branches more than 1 Decent track length great scenery Big detailed station Additional features theirs many more points but I think my point of it hits a lot of boxes well is shown now.
Boston commuter is a trusty one for American electrics and diesels. I would also recommend great western express and the diesel legends pack. good bang for your buck if its on sale
It’s a hard one to call and very subjective. For the UK, I mean Blackpool Branches should be at the top due to era and build quality, but of course loco hauled it is actually over quite quickly with a loco hauled run from Preston to Blackpool or vv. And while the scenery is nicely done, the Fylde Peninsula is not exactly mid Wales or the north west of Scotland. NTP still has the edge for me and BML, despite Electrostar predominance, can still be entertaining. And I would place BML joint third with ECML which has the advantage of a nice long fast run. If you like Azumas!
I am going to say Blackpool branches as well as the SEHS which i enjoy as it had a bit of everything if you have the extra trains for it and can be pretty busy.
I am definitely not the first person to say this here but BBO is by far the best UK route. JustTrains went all out - I cannot wait for their future releases.
BR218 is awesome if you like some challenge learning its quirks and features also recommend some info threads about it here where me and other guys elaborated on notches, brakes and other shenanigans of this loco... also it has great shape, which is almost perfect for liveries and it is a mainline diesel loco... kinda slow, but once it gets up to speed, holds it quite nicely
My Top 5: 1. Blackpool Branches 2. Northern Trans-Pennine 3. Tees Valley Line 4. South Eastern High Speed 5. Brighton Main Line My worst purchases to date: 1. Fife Circle 2. Edinburgh - Glasgow 3. East Coastway
