This route is getting updated to a level of more a presentation of the real route! The old route was at a level that you feel alone in the world. Now this route is the real Glasgow Central! Well done DTG! I'm pleased with this coming update and new DLC class380!
Nice! Haven't driven that route for a long time now. Remember me enjoying it back then so will be purchasing this one
Off topic. What we don't understand (and what really pisses us off) is why this Loco DLC is being put on a revamped path with ToD4, and instead the BR 218 was "slammed" onto an obsolete path. Sometimes I feel like giving up on TSW. However i'm happy for anyone who will get this addon and enjoy it.
It would be a day one purchase for me. Can't wait to see the Class 380 and the remastered Cathcart Circle route. CCL looks competely different from current version, we get more services, better scenery and improved lighting. Hoping that other UK routes ( BCC or BML )can receive such a remaster.
You'll be able to on free roam. The article states they have tried to base it on the real life timetable.
It's always good to see older routes upgraded, particularly the lighting around urban areas, so I'll give Cathcart another look. But the prospect of yet another joystick, overpowered emu with prison- style windshield coming off the DTG conveyor belt is not something to look forward to for me. Pass until a substantial sale.
It definitely feels like this is worth getting for the new timetable on Cathcart. There’s a good Scotrail fleet now, although of varying quality it must be said. Hopefully this train will be one of the better ones. The 314 still has a woefully quiet AWS bell sound on PS5, one of the reasons I find it to be a less than satisfactory drive and I suspect that won’t have been touched for the remaster. DTG very often seem to think that the cab warnings shouldn’t be heard for some reason. I hope this has clear and distinct cab sounds on all platforms.
Hi DTG Jamie Can you add the link to the DTL article at the top of the post please?. You can use the previous LIRR post by Alex as an example. Some of us find out about new DTL articles thru the forums, and that link is very convenient. Thanks.
Agreed. It's awesome to see an old route get some much needed love but the new EMU coming doesn't excite me at all, but I've never liked electric things really.. diesel all the way for me!! I hope everyone who does buy the 380 enjoys it though, knowing me I'll end up buying it anyway.. I'm a sucker for wanting to complete the UK collection haha!
I highly suggest to everyone to go check out the timetable discussion on the news page for the 380, it's just incredible what has been achieved here! a huge respect and credit to those involved in creating such a full and proper timetable.. i only wish this was something that was present on every route, when you compare glasgow cathcart in this new offering to the fife circle line, it's just really sad how lacking fife circle really is from a timetable perspective. I really do wish somebody would take the fife circle timetable and redo it to even half the standard this new cathcart one is going to be but when it comes to cathcart with this new timetable, thank you so much to those who have made this happen, it really does have a hugely positive impact on gameplay, it just really cannot he underestimated just how amazing this will be!
I’m not overly interested in this, if anything I’m disappointed that it’s using the seldom released loco DLC slot from DTG. A lot of buzz about a decent sized scotrail fleet, but they’re all disconnected DLC’s & of varying quality. “Use Scenario Planner or Free Roam at your will to recreate the E2G transitional times!” This is a line that is irking me more & more. Free Roam & Scenario planner are still so limited & it seems that DTG prefers to use this stance over creating layers. I’m not seeing huge reasons lately to buy ever more expensive content that doesn’t offer a whole lot. The Cathcart upgrades are great, but it’s still a very small route with limited variety. It’s time that could be better used elsewhere (including on newer Scottish routes).
Will the 380 sub in at Scotrail Express? I also miss the voice announcements here, which are so well done on the other Scottish routes. Will a development happen later?
Given that this train is so ubiquitous on Scottish rail, it seems a waste not to give it a line of its own and then layer it into other existing routes like Cathcart. And I agree that it's kind of a cheapskate approach to charge $17 and then expect players to create their own gameplay with Scenario Planner rather than code some scenarios and timetable layers on E2G which many of us already own along with CCL.
Agree. I mean full credit to the person (people) who updated Cathcart but you could argue they were only sorting out what was a somewhat poorly put together route in the first place. It remains to be seen whether night lighting in particular is better, given TSW’s inherent weakness in the area. In the final analysis, Cathcart really is a bus service of a route too and the 380 will be hard pressed to stretch its legs, compared to running out to Ayr, Helensburgh, Wemyss Bay or some other more expansive part of the Glasgow network. Well I just blew the rest of my Steam Wallet on Ringbahn for TSC,so probably giving this a miss.
Could see something else on the horizon. Line down to Ayr for example or Wemyss Bay great looking station there that would be nice for publicity shots if they needed them. Got to think of the Insta etc
This looks fantastic, I can't wait to play it. Route remasters are to be welcomed, and praised - long may they continue! There's a lot of potential in routes after their release, and that potential only increases as the game grows.
A very engaging and well-written article. Have never been a fan of Cathcart but, my word, this looks quite exciting. I very much hope DTG continues the trend of updating older routes with a newer timetable to reflect more recent rolling stock etc. However, still very disappointed Hamburg remains TOD 3 for the 218 - which is one of the best-ever loco DLCs for TSW.
As far as joystick EMUs go, I could take them or leave them but I understand there’s a market for them. It’s a really easy, laid back playstyle- and there’s definitely room for that in some of my sessions especially if everything is done really well. Which in this instance, everything looks great. The route looks like it’s going to be absolutely fantastic, nice to get some old routes up to snuff. Well done tbh
The same could be said the other way around. Someone could ask why cathcart didn't get an upgrade with the 380. So lose lose then?
bc its dtg standard, every route produced directly by dtg receives an upgrade when a loco, emu, dmu is released for that route the same doesnt occur when locos, emus and dmus are produced by third parties
Haven’t watched the stream yet, I’ve found recent ones difficult to watch and not so helpful. Pleased to see the positive feedback for the 380 though. I like Cathcart, so I’ll probably pick this up the following weekend if the feedback remains good. Didn’t buy anything in the sale, so it’s not going to break the bank. Good to see that DLC seems to be on a positive trend at the moment
I haven't seen the preview stream yet, but I have seen the short 380 preview. I always love how these preview videos seem to have completely unnecessary background noise masking the noises we want to hear. Who decided to have a 158 rumbling away in the background?? The 380 sounds just right. Gives me hope that when one of the more important Desiros gets added (350, 450, 444) it'll sound good. I'm still not sold on the concept of this add on in general however I may get it anyway simply because I'm desperate for something new to do in this game.
Looking forward to this. I bought Cathcart Circle in a sale a while back and enjoyed it, but wished it was more populated. The 380 will be a day 1 purchase and I suspect with the remaster I'll be playing this a lot more now!
One for the sales, though I will fire up the route again with it being remastered and give my ScotRail pushpull 47 a run out again on the route, end to end, no stops.
Pretty much my view of things. I mean I've already "supported" DTG financially by buying Maintalbahn and a couple of TSC routes in the sale so I have no qualms about taking the gratis overhauled route and timetable. By then we should also know if the 380 is another 5 minute wonder or part of a longer strategy for future routes goin forward.
Cathcart was always a diamond in the rough. I always enjoyed it, even if the nighttime scenery was lacking. The TOD4 upgrade (although not tied to the 380) and new timetable makes this loco DLC much more enticing as a purchase.
Ah. I didn't see that when I read the article. Sorry! But yeah, it's a bit of a shame but I understand why that's been done..
They usually get it like They usually get it like 1-2 days before it releases so they can record and upload videos
I think this is going to be another great update to an older route the same as WSR,and especially as it has a new unit in the shape of the 380 adding new life to the route and also with the extra layers ,big thumbs up from me!
