I have the old Train Sim World LIRR route and I gotta say it’s OK for something made in a few years. Since LIRR Commuter came out last time, I was having mixed thoughts of getting it or not because the price being +$10 compared to the original one. I’ve been waiting for a discount for a month and im wondering when is there going to be a discount for PlayStation so DTG can discount their LIRR commuter route.
I played through the training scenarios, and from what I've seen it looks alright. My only real gripe with it is that it docks your score for cab signal drops in addition to permanent speed drops. I don't have an issue with running the cab signalling and safety systems, I have for a long time, I just don't think it's fair to penalize for a cab signal drop that can be attributed to the unpredictability of traffic on the line. Especially when you acknowledge the drop and react accordingly. It'd be one thing if you ignored it and took an emergency penalty, but acknowledging the drop and adjusting speed correctly should not be punished in game.
it’s a core bug affecting any safety system what has speed drops when the authorised speed is still above. It came with the scoring system update.
Played the new LIRR a lot , it’s actually very well done! The timetable and the true to life signalling are what really sets it apart from the old route. Also the Long Beach extension is nice and the new M9 is nice to drive . Sounds are good too. There are some bugs , but nothing too major in my opinion. I mostly play in timetable mode and it’s great .
