I'm a bit confused about this, but say if I make changes to a route will this also affect the excisting scenarios, e.g if I remove a building will this building also be removed in already excisting scenarios ? If not; what is the purpose of cloning a route instead of cloning a scenario ?
If you clone a scenario every thing in the original is in the copy - like if you add a speed restriction it will be in the copy. Ad if you remove a building it will be in the copy. If you clone a route then everything in the original is in the copy If the scenarios are also cloned they they would have the same features are those in the original route.
Peter, only scenario specific assets (buildings etc) would be retained in a copied/cloned scenario, so if you removed a building in the route any previously copied/cloned scenarios would not feature that removed building.
You clone a scenario if you want to make modifications to the scenario without affecting the original. You clone a route if you want to make modifications to the route without affecting the original. If you copy the scenarios with your cloned route, then those scenarios will see the route as you have modified it. J
I have one more question: what exactly is cloned, the actual models and textures or only text files, so if I wanted to clone a route then the clone would just point to the same texture and models folders as the original route ?
Exactly...a route is only a set of files that tell the game where to find the assets used, and where in the route to place them. When you clone/copy a route the assets used are NOT changed in any way.
If you have a Cloned route then you cold make changes to that version without affecting the original. And the cloned version would not be affected by any updates. On the downside scenarios would not work on the cloned versions, apart from those cloned at the time. They can be made to work with a little alteration to them.
