Hello, I have recently received a £30 playstation voucher and am planning on getting 1 of 3 routes. Which of these would you reccomend the most as I dont know which one to get. Scot Rail Express (Edinburgh to Glasgow) Fife Circle line Tharandter Rampe (Dresden to Chemnitz) Thanks
I don’t have Fife and rarely use Edinburgh- Glasgow but I do use Dresden - Chemnitz. Despite being old and using the old lighting it’s still fun to drive with the Br 612 (a titling train). If you own Riesa you also get layers for this route too. Scotrail express is an alright route but the 385 is kinda average and has subpar sounds, nowhere near as good as the 380 which came out today. I’d pick Dresden
Well given the two Scottish routes are by Rivet I would say go for Tharandter aka DCZ. You get a fairly polished German route and a decent train to drive (the 612).
I would not currently buy any at full price. Scotrail express and Fife have recently been 60% and 30% off respectively. Tharandter Rampe I bought at launch and don't regret it because it's been fun for many hours, but it's an old route and I wouldn't pay more than €15 for it if I had to buy it now.
If you own Cathcart ScotRail express is good for layers and is a fun fast route to play (if you can ignore rivets bugs) Fife circle is a brilliant scenic route with a fairly well done class 170 though it is also made my rivet so don't expect it to be perfect. I don't know anything about Tharandter Rampe but I hope this helps.
Thank you all for your reply. I'm gonna add one more route to the list. What are everyone's thoughts on the Blackpool Branches route with the pacer. George
lol if you mentioned this one from the beginning, probably 100% of the votes would’ve been for this one. It’s that good.
I’d have to agree with the majority of everyone in here and suggest Tharandter Rampe. I’m hoping someday that route gets the TOD4 treatment as for me it’s starting to show its age, just like the BML which I play a lot also. Shout out to Fife circle though, it’s been improved a lot since launch and in the coming weeks or months they’re adding the Leven branch.
That one you can buy at full price with confidence and in my opinion is the best of the four you're interested in by far. Just Trains did an amazing job.
There is normally a summer sale on the PlayStation Store, now whether it'll have any TSW routes is another matter. News sites reporting it'll be between July 18 - August 1. It may be worth just holding a week for that and see if anything is in it.
For me it's between Blackpool Branches and Tharandter Rampe. Both are good, but both are enjoyed more when you have more things to layer onto it. I'd take a look at what you have already and see which has the most compelling timetable when combined.
I think most people here will agree that Blackpool is the best from a technical point of view, highly detailed, includes many pacer skins and other locos, has a great timetable, etc ... Most people know this already. So if you did not go and pick it without even asking I begin to ask myself if maybe there is something you think you might not enjoy in that route. Buy Blackpool branches unless: You do not like single line routes. A big chunk of the route is single line. You do not like the time period (80s). You do not like the Pacer or DMUs in general.
Blackpool is, without a doubt, the best of those routes, and the only one I would pay full price for.
I were a bit miffed that the first few posts didn't even mention Blackpool but makes sense now, and I do agree that if it were there from the beginning the vast majority of votes would be for it. Stunning quality and even the Pacer is one of the few 'modern' DMUs I have enjoyed.
