I've just tried the LIRR M9 Long Beach addon and once again, I was met with disappointment. I know that performance varies with each user's pc but my pc is well above the recommended requirements, and I should not be experiencing shuttering and CTD which mainly occurs around the Long Beach Branch and around Jamaica Queens. The M9 looks great but is utterly annoying with its constant beeping due to the alert systems being permanently activated not to mention the insane and unforgiving speed limit safety system which really just kills the game play imo. I understand this is because of the MTA's licensing requirements but some sort of menu setting could have been implemented to turn off the safety systems. I did try running around using the M9 by making my own scenario using the M3 or M7 but nope, not gonna happen, because the custom scenario only allows for short services from each branch that often ends in Jamaica. In other words, you can't make a custom scenario with a train starting from Atlantic Ave, or Long Island City and terminating at Long Beach or vise verse. In addition, the scenario editor gives no access to the express / center tracks (just like the Harlem line) so it's pretty much a useless tool to create anything outside of what already exist in the timetables. I'd rather you all at DTG tell the MTA to get stuffed regarding their ridiculous licensing requirements for the M9 and just update and expand the LIRR route at a price less equivalent to a new route OR come out with another London Underground Route. 90% of the UK commuter and subway routes you all have released are hands down the best out there. I do have a strong liking for UK rail in general, but that's just a matter of my own preference and opinion. What's obvious and factual is the level of attention and detail put into UK routes compared to USA NE routes is like night and day. Either do a better job with USA routes in the NE or just leave them alone.
Either dtg comply or lose the license entirely which means all mta dlc get taken down and they can't make anything. Making the systems a toggle would go against mta's wishes. At the end of the day, mta are in charge and they can do whatever they want and nothing we say or do is going to help the situation. It would just make it worse.
DTG did do a great job on LIRR 2, but it might just be your hardware that's the issue, just because you're at the recommended specs doesn't mean everything is gonna be buttery smooth. You might just need to upgrade your hardware to improve performance
From my understanding (and I may be wrong) the MTA's requirements were in regard to the actual safety system control panel inside the operator cab which had to be omitted and had nothing to do with the system itself being activated or deactivated.
No. That's only one part of it. Other things included the brake charge being done automatically. Safety and signaling systems to be required on and removing panels.
Despite my initial acceptance of the situation it does impose a rather insidious distraction into what should be fun. Spend so much time focused on the safety systems, you don't look out the window and enjoy the route. And the whole thing is a nonsense as whoever has the original LIRR can run with systems off and get to use the brake charge feature which is even covered in training!
