As most of you know you can't find this route anymore on Steam but is there anyone who knows if there are DLC to buy from G-Trax which made this route. But I want to say that this is/was a fantastic route and I am happy that I own it.
It's available for free as "Pennsylvania Steam" (Name change was required as publisher DTG holds the rights to the "B&E" DLC name. I think there was a licensing issue (note the abundance of real brandings) which G-TraX didn't want to remove, so they just withdrew the route from sale and offered it for free. (Same with Portland Terminal > Maine Maritime) https://railworksamerica.com/index....:pennsylvania-steam&catid=20:route-collection
That's your G-TraX and GreatNortherner. Even provided backdating packs for Montana Hiline, Marias Pass and the standalone Cascadian backdated electrified Stevens Pass version featuring the old track north of the tunnel and the GN Class Y1.
Thanks for pointing this one out, didn't know about it. What a great looking route! Very realistic looking, great work with the foliage, especially the mid to distant forest scenery - can't quite work out how they put those great looking 2d trees in yet, maybe it a procedural flora thing. Great use of the procedural flora regrading the near trackside grass, works v well. Never seen this technique before.
It's made by the same people whose work got bashed when working for a HIS project... Just as HIS (Gary) writes books and makes scenarios, Alan Thomson has never made a route himself. Just a streamer with a webshop, contracting developers. (Not to be confused with the other Alan Thomson (Thomson Interactive) who laid the foundation for Rivet Games) A beautiful route it is, labour of love, offering a wide range of "activities" . Looking at my Drive menu, I do have a lot of fine workshop scenarios, meaning both versions are fully compatible with each other.
This is a nicely This is a nicely done representationof Conneut Lake Park and the spur line the Bessemer had into there , they had employee picnics there and ran special trains I grew up in Bessemer country and as a child would see comercals for Coneaut lake park on TV .was also there a few times as a kid
The screenshots are actually from a three part "Employee Excursion" scenario. The "Purge"? What happened??
I was running out of space on my 1TB drive and upgraded to a 2TB Drive I had too much DLC so I removed a number of routes I did not use very much - most of which were US Routes.
Shame Canadian National caused this route to get pulled from Steam, its rare to get a US steam era route not from a major Class 1.
Quite the opposite of a "shame" to not bow down and cripple the route to avoid legal issues, instead just giving it away for free! The route was worth more to them than the money.
You have to remember, there are those players that wont touch stuff that is not "Official" DLC, so the route will probably not be seen by as many new players as others. Not to mention the route cant be used in the "Official" screenshot competitions either. (Though thats a personal gripe of mine)
That's purely their own problem. It's there for free, take it or leave it. I could also say playing the game only for winning a contest, you are restricting yourself from enjoying the content richness this game offers.
I barely drive trains anymore across TSC and TSW, virtual railfanning is my only enjoyment anymore... :/ Sorry if how I play the game is insulting.
It's not insulting, but it causes problems for you apparently. Can't stop running trains, now a Run8 session from LA to San Bernardino
No worries. I was never insulted, that's your supposition. Play "official stuff" only if you like, dunno why you are so aggressive (maybe exactly because of that and being disappointed by TSW's lack of content). I just say you're missing out, that's a fact. The route will not be rereleased on Steam, live with it. I pointed out that the route is still available, that it's a great gesture from G-TraX, and you are turning it into something negative - your own problem. If you don't care for your very own reasons, others may. This is an open forum. I'm a railfan foremost, and I'll use any means to enjoy my hobby virtually. There is no worries, be assured. If people are disappointed permanently, I'll just let them be Clear case of glass half full or half empty. Being given something for free and moaning.
For me it was the opposite, it was one of my first routes as a new player) It is very nice and free, what else to wish... Maybe just better steam simulation...))
It's completely different. Not a general "objective" based game, but a true simulator made by a team of retired and active railroaders. If you want correct physics and operation, look no further. If you need a game that tells you what to do, it's not for you. Use your imagination, set up your world, spawn trains, give them a correct tag and the dispatcher will automatically route them (you can switch at anytime from manual dispatching to AI). Deliver cars to their destinations, create your "merry go rounds", or share all the work on a Multiplayer server. Enjoy the large network. It's a game without fanfare, PR or funky tutorials. Like Zusi, it just works. And I do like the lighting (which is more important for me than texture fidelity).
Its also not the most prettiest or visually accurate game, IIRC their version of Horseshoe curve is made up of mainly reused assets and not very many unique ones, though it can give you a good look at ATSF/BNSF's realistic operating length along the Southern Transcon from California to Arizona.
Yeah, it's made by a handful of people who have real jobs, not by a software company. But it's technically quite accurate, which is the most important for many. What use is a UE4 rendered world when basic stuff like DPU are poorly implemented as in TSW? Or displays are non functional, PCS lamps not illuminating when they should, wrong EOT readouts etc. This kill immersion, I want to simulate the real thing. If I want to watch perfect landscapes I can watch a cab ride. Nice to be able to setup your train, adjust car loads, tag them. And the AI is using the horn correctly at crossings, when starting or reversing. You get a feel for the real thing. TSC has more to choose from, nice vintage routes and stock, but it's still a scenario based game. You can change anything at runtime in Run8 without ever needing to close the game. What the? Spawned in a bad location Super easy ingame Formation Train Editor, showing the HP/ton ratio so I can see if I need more traction.
You could technically say the same about Searchlight Simulations, though it will be interesting to see how their route and equipment for SimRail will compare to Run 8 and TSC.
Oh, I do, and I've got their AC44, SD40-2 and the SD70ACu. They are the best that's possible, but are within TSC's limits. No manual connecting airhoses, anglec0cks, or working a hump yard there. I do not really see all these games as competing with each other. Each one fills a space, does something that the others can't.
I have TSW 2 3 and 4 content on console , since i just got a PC gaming lap top I got TSC 2024 and trainz 19 and 22 for it so far I dont plan on TSW for PC since its not any better no reason to get it for PC TSW will be my console train sim ..Trainz is good to me it gives you TON s of assets depending on your choices on route purchases im more into running and building trains and playing well done scenarios ,trainz has the virtual model rr vibe via route building editing .thats all too complex for my liking so i just let the folks that build good routes do that and if i like it ill buy it ...what i dont like is web ware file ware stuff i wont buy Run 8 cause of this wish they would put their game up on the steam store easily avail to download and play no file ware hoop jumping trainz wont let me get a account its messed up they wont fix it read about that on their forum s..i tried a few freeware files for TSC cant get them to work so def dont trust buying web and file ware i cant easily access .
I've not seen many people complain about installing things for Run8, Trainz and TS... Are you sure you're reading the instructions properly? I have not played much of the former two, but I have been installing content for TS for more than ten years without issue.
What exactly do you mean by web ware and file ware? In roughly 15yrs of downloading and installing 3rd party content for a wide variety of games I've never come across these terms, in fact I'd almost go as far as to say I think you made these terms up. In all my years I've never once downloaded or installed anything that's been malicious but that's because I only ever download from trusted well known sources and never just blindly click on any or every link Google or whatever throws at me. Practice basic internet/Web security and you'll unlikely go wrong. Final point, always read the readme's the clue is in the name more often than not (unless there's a specific txt or pdf document that says install instructions) will tell you what you need to know regarding getting that particular add on/mod whatever you wish to call it working correctly if there are no txt or pdf document instructions with the download then you really need to reevaluate where you're getting your 3rd party content from.
It is worth noting that the minority of third party mods for TS may not have good instructions or may have broken installers, but with some common sense and familiarity with TS that can easily be worked around.
Agreed, but I kind of hinted to that by saying "more often than not" and that's where my point about trusted sources comes into it, 99% of trusted sites will at the very least offer instructions in the description or supply a readme with the mod, those that don't should surely make you query the competence of the mod author or hoster. I, like you know my way around the railworks folder and some 3rd party content authors assume that the end user does too, whether this is arrogance or laziness I'm not sure, but I will say there's always forums like this that will help people along if their knowledge or capabilities are lacking.
I have got Run8, tried for some hours and already love it! Great physics, nice graphics and very hard to understand whats going on and what to do) Can you guys suggest some good tutorial to read or watch to start some meaningful actions in game. For now I only drove some prepared trains, I think this is like QD in TS.
Does Run8 not have a forum where you can ask question and where everyone will know something about it. Compared with this forum where a much smaller percentage will know anything about it.
i Id like to try run 8 but im not very computer skilled ..run 8 just needs to put game on steam store like most of the other big name train sims ..i dont understand all this downloading tgh files j peg m peg malarkey not all of us are computer science experts .it would easier for me to access from steam store maybe theyd get more sales for it too more easier access
After some fooling around with the Pa Steam Bessemer route download file and crashing issue .I finally got it to play and enjoying it especially since i grew up in Bessemer country south end North Bessemer , that was one of the first things i booted up was a scenario starting there to Butler PA, after that did coneaut to butler ..took me via KO bypass line around Greenville pa ..next will run via old line to see Greenville shops area ..and check out the Meadville branch , loving the route so far
i also still need to run the Unity Branch to Renton mine ..i could see trains at distance on it from my bedroom window when was growing up and had a cab ride on the branch in very early 1980 s ..today the unity branch is gone just a memory ..
Also was neat the trestles at north bessemer represented before they were filled in and more tracks were added on top bewteen the viaducts which still stand under the fill.. As kids we used to call it sandy hill and try to climb up the fill
It's a fun route. Grew up in an area that had coal docks a lot like those at Coneaut. The older setting just gives it a unique flavor.
