Now that the East Coast Mainline is a thing, the Class 91 would be the locomotive that would make the most sense to go along the class 801. I believe it is the most common train that you'd see alongside the 801. With this, an extension to Kings Cross would be a great addition (not sure why it wasn't there to begin with as it's the main point of interest). Maybe when TSW5 comes out, they could do a remastered version of ECML with Kings Cross added and the class 91s.
It was said they picked Peterborough to Doncaster over going from King's Cross due to the south section being too complex and time consuming to produce - so I don't think that is likely to happen anytime soon, at least so close to the current ECML section we now have. The Class 91 however would still be most welcome as a loco DLC for Peterborough to Doncaster. Just having the Class 801 operating express services doesn't give the route enough variety and is one I rarely turn back to play now.
An extension to York (and possibly even Scarborough or Leeds) is a better option although I don’t believe DTG can do route extensions on TSW. The SEHS that we got with TSW3 was more of a rebuild then an extension
The 2 issues are 1: the extension to King’s Cross is too long. 2: the route is set in 2024 and and as of then all of the class 91s have been pulled out of service so it would be in the wrong time phase.
All of the ECML HST 125 sets have been withdrawn (and have been since Dec 2019), there are still plenty of 225 sets however I believe they only go as far between Kings Cross and York with some services going into Leeds
Ok. how about this.. Add the LNER Class 91. It would be a fantastic addition. They are still in service I saw a couple recently!
I say this all the time, but I would love to see the whole ECML recreated - but understand that this wouldn't necessarily work as an extension. Some kind of link between the sections so you can have effectively continuous gameplay, even if you have to click an ok prompt or have a loading screen (though seamless would be best). 91 is really needed while DTG can still gather reference material. Special liveries are a must.
if we do get london to to petorbough, it would need to be an entire new route (like maintalbahhn and mainspessartbahn) AND if we do get it, it would need to include great northern services with the 387 and 717s.
Probably the most high in demand route it seems for TSW even if it takes them many many months or longer King's Cross to Peterborough would be great for them it should be seen as ambitious project to push past their limitations of the engine. If licensing issues become a problem then they can focus on the late British Rail era and Network SouthEast was around early 90s when you had class 91, HST Paxman Valenta 43, 465, 317, 313, 158 and 322 around.
Lner currently have 8 sets running out of 9,of the Class 91.One went bang at Doncaster. The information I was given, claims they will stay on ECML for up to two more years. Due to waiting for new rolling stock. This was up to date five weeks ago. The spotters at Doncaster are very knowledgeable.Learnt a lot in two hours there. A 91 on its own, or with a route.Or late BR, extension/new section would be lovely . With just trains and WCML at ninety miles. I feel optimistic about the 91 though, it's got to happen.
Considering the WCML is getting its heritage locomotives through Just Trains' Preston - Carlisle, the 43 is getting redone with the GWE remaster, and the fact that there's more than just Doncaster - Peterborough that they could run on. Makes me really optimistic that the 91 will eventually come, and hopefully soon
Would definitely like to see this route and loco at some point in TSW. Having it as a route merge/extension would be the icing on the cake.
