    Hi folks,

    Hope you are all well!

This is just a question I have been having for a while concerning the hud. I am having trouble inferring what exactly this bar means.

What does the top figure apply to and the bottom figure also? Been caught out a few times by this. Also why do some speed limits apply immediately at the board and others only apply once rear of train has passed. Which conditions specify when this is to be?

Additionally, what are these things called at bay platforms at Doncaster Station?

    Are they classed as buffers?

    Much appreciated as always,

    Sam

They both mean the same, one is just at the bottom because if both were at the top, you wouldn't be able to read some numbers where multiple speed limit changes line up on a short section.

Lowest speed limit has priority. When it goes lower than the current limit, it applies immediately. Hence eg. on german routes there are warning signs before the actual speed limit change sign, giving you the change to slow down in advance. When the limit goes up though, your entire unit has to pass the point of change before you would be allowed to go faster.

As I have no idea of anything of UK routes, my blank guess is that it's just there to draw attention to the driver reminding them that there is no more track, so they better stop before they eat some bricks ;)

If the speed limit is lower than the current one, it applies at the speed board. If it will increase the rear of the train has the pads the board first before accelerating.

As for the numbers, they're speed limits. They apply to whatever train you're driving. The two might be there because it indicates the speed will change again pretty much immediately.
    They are buffers, yes.

What about an instance whereby you have a 120 then a 40. It must mean a diverging junction or something. Overall confused lol.

The red light on a pole is there because, once the train gets close to the buffers, the Driver won’t be able to see the buffers anymore (they’re too low, below the windscreen). Historically a red lamp used to be put on the buffers themselves, but then the lamp was raised onto a pole as a safety measure.

That's a quirk with how speed limits are set up in the game. The limit on the line you're on is changing, but then you're changing onto a new piece of track with a different speed limit. There isn't much that can be done about it.
