Should have known better and wait for the route to be released on Steam. This is what happens when you run Ingolstadt-Treuchtlingen RSSLO store version. I have used the installer and my serial, and this keeps happening. I do not have "the Munchen - Nurnberg" btw, which was not listed as a requirement. Vanilla installation, the route refused to work at all on my main AP enhanced installation I have asked for a refund, and will buy it eventually from Steam when available. Nothing beats its customer friendliness. And the message displayed translates as a middle finger to a paying customer. All this DRM LOVE is so anachronistic and has not fought but fuelled piracy because people want to spend their money on clean software! Edit: Solved on my own. RSSLO will need to issue a patch containing a missing "secret" file which I could create myself by checking the scripts. A very basic DRM, harmless and unintrusive. Ok with me.
I'm with you on all this DRM stuff, developers and by developers I don't mean AAA game developers or even small developers like DTG here, I mean amateur small time devs (in any other game we'd call them modders but in the TSC community it seems they wish to elevate their status by calling themselves developers instead I don't know why). Anyway they seem so fanatically focused on preventing one or two illicitly copied versions of their payware mod they fail to see they're in fact driving people away from legitimate sales and like you say spikee probably look to gaining these things through other means because it can seem like less hassle. Don't get me wrong here and let me be perfectly clear I don't condone piracy and don't pirate any content myself, everything I own has been purchased either through Steam or the third parties site directly, I'm just saying I can understand why people seek out those alternatives even with the inherent risks involved. I just wish these devs would stick with what works and has worked for years and that's a downloaded installer that gives you install path options doesn't require an active internet connection to install and is yours to keep or download again forever. Sorry if this comes across ranty, I'm not trying to be, just putting over my view.
Have to say, this might probably be one of RSSLO's best routes. (almost 8 GB of assets!) Though they have upgraded their BR182 with a ZZA, it seems to be non functional. The manual says K / Shift+K to change destinations, but that's not working, because the key K is not assigned in the InputMapper. Audi factory Ingolstadt
Agreed, only had the time for two scenarios yet, but they have definitely improved and I'm enjoying it. Considering the large asset pack it comes with, I think it may become a requirement for future freeware routes.
Update - I didn't have the "error" that you had but I already had München - Nürnberg. I hope that the Treuchtlingen - Nürnberg gap is eventually filled as now they have had a go at Nürnberg there should be only time, the hard work is done. I would prefer the historic route to the HSL from Ingolstadt. As an aside - There used to be an 01 pacific (large boiler version) plinthed at the bottom of the hill below Treuchtlingen Bhf. It was 01 220 if I remember correctly.
That's because München-Nürnberg contains the "DRM" 0-byte textfile in Flyouts/, the same script that triggers the file check is in Treuchtlingen, that's why it fails if you only have this one. I've reported this, but RSSLO don't seem to answer quickly. RSSLO, the only payware developer left for german content, are never doing historic stuff, they have their 2-3 months dev time per route (the quickest / most efficient route builders in the whole game, often saving on vegetation, but very FPS friendly routes), and historical routes would require a lot of research that only freeware authors have the time for. Modern routes are easy, using GoogleMaps overlay and RailView. An interesting video from Rivet Games, showing their routebuilding process (each scenery team member having their assigned tiles to work on after the tracklaying team hands the route over to them.)
"historical routes would require a lot of research that only freeware authors have the time for. Modern routes are easy, using GoogleMaps overlay and RailView" I meant that the route from Ingolstadt to Nürnberg historically was via Treuchtlingen rather than I wanted the route to be set historically but I can see that I was not clear in my language. I accept that current routes are easier I have found this in my own research for the Green Bay & Western Railroad, much of which no longer exists. It's hard enough finding the path let alone the buildings along the trackside.
