Overview: Expand Penn Station to include the LIRR concourse and the Amtrak waiting area. Justification: Penn Station plays a pivotal role in both the LIRR and NEC TSW routes. Expanding and enhancing Penn (in addition to linking NEC and LIRR per other proposals on this forum) would add a great deal of realism and detail, while bolstering the depth of both LIRR and NEC TSW routes. Additionally, an expanded / enhanced Penn would be able to support future TSW expansions, if it were decided to one day model NJT, or the 7th / 8th Av subways. Details: An expanded Penn Station would include: - The LIRR concourse (fig. 1), ticket windows, and the recently opened West End Concourse underneath the Farley post office under 8th Av. - The LIRR concourse would span from 7th to 8th Avs, and include entrances to the IRT and IND subways (able to support a future TSW modeling of either), as well as the Hilton corridor running parallel to main LIRR concourse. - LIRR stairs / escalators / elevators to tracks 13-21. - The Amtrak waiting area (fig. 2) - up the stairs / escalators from the LIRR concourse - would span from the Amtrak ticket windows to the ticketed passenger waiting area. - The Amtrak waiting area would include the big board, ticket windows, Acela Club, ticketed passenger waiting area (with the attached Starbucks), and the escalators to street level. - Amtrak escalators to tracks 7-16. I think that it will be possible through modding once we get the editor by converting scenario tiles to world tiles.
