Since its release at the end of 2020, LGV Méditerranée remains the only French route in TSW and the only high-speed line with Vmax > 300km/h. Whilst not providing a diverse service pattern and therefore large variety, I still find myself returning to this route regularly. As it seems to be unlikely that we see another French high-speed line in the near future, I think it's time for LGV Méditerranée to get a remaster to better reflect this stunning route. I'll skip the expected Upgrades, like TOD4, new rain effects, etc. and focus on specific problems the route has and that need fixing or would improve the route. If you have something to add to this list, feel free to comment it down below and I'll may add it if it seems manageble and improves the route. Stations: Replace buffer stops Buffer stops at Marseille Saint-Charles are the same as in the depot. The real buffer stop are similar to the buffers found at platforms A & B at Avignon TGV. More scenery objects Compared to Aix-en-Provence TGV and Avignon TGV, Marseille Saint-Charles is lacking details and scenery. Possible additions include station shops, ticket gates, ticket machines and platform signage. Some assets for these objects can be found at the other two stations, but weren't placed in Marseille. Improved platform PIS displays The PIS displays are noticebly low in resolution. An increased resolution will make them appear much better. Route: Improved Landscape The area around Cavaillon and especially the Durance River is modelled very poorly. This area would benefit massively from a touchup by the landscape artists. Neutral sections Whilst already existing on the route as a model, the neutral sections don't feature any gameplay mechanics (loss of power, MCB trip). Also the TVM features an MCB automation, whereby the MCB is tripped by the TVM system shortly before the neutral section and automatically reset after the train has cleared the neutral section. (Video showing this process in a real TGV) Trackside scenery Some major trackside scenery/assets are missing. These include equipment cabinets (e.g. for electronics at switches), light poles at switches (all switches on french high-speed lines are lit), kilometer signs, etc. (optional) LGV switches Compared to the original switches, the representation in the game lacks major details. As the switches on KWG were modelled properly, I think a rework of the ones on the LGV is possible. The changes regard the moveable frog (with seperate motor) and multiple throwbars and locks for the switchrails. (optional) Rework of the OLE Whilst the catenary on the LGV is fine, the classic lines are not. Possible improvements include double wires in the 1,5kV section, more masts and the addition of isolators and switches. Especially in the station limits of Marseille the complexity of the real OLE is far beyond the current representation in the game. But as such a rework is coupled with massive remodeling efforts, I've put it in here as optional. Signalling: TVM wrong indications When signalling from 320 to 300 the TVM doesn't show the correct sequence. Currently it displays 320VL - 320V - 300V - 300A. The correct sequence would be 320VL- 320V - 300A. This faulty sequence can be seen at best when following another TGV on the line. Slow (Ralentissement) signals not working Signal aspects R30, RR30, R60, RR60 are not working and display a dark signal with œilleton (white light for proceed aspects). These don't show in the normal timetable services, but can be used in free roam, e.g. driving a train through the washing track. Faulty aspects Some routes show the wrong signal aspect (e.g. route from/to track M/N shows M or MM instead of VL or Av). Missing speed announcement TIV-D «90» (857.9 km Track M1) for diverging route to track M2 at Potence P1 Signal 107 isn't working. Train: Improved Brake controls The current brake controller seems weird. After setting a brake pressure, the actual brake performance increases slowly to the selected value. As the gauges don't represent any of this slow actuation, it is harder to brake the train confidently. The TGV feels more like a long freight train than a high-speed train. Backup Brake The backup brake (frein secours) is neither mapped to the keyboard nor effecting the brake pipe pressure. (optional) Improved sounds Whilst not being bad, the sounds could use some better samples and tweaks. At most the train horn. (optional) Eggbox indicators Whilst I'm not certain on this, due to conflicting sources, the eggbox (fault indicators above the switch panel) might either show the wrong or not all indicators found on the real train. TGV Réseau DLC: SNCF TGV 28000 Réseau Built between 1992-96, the TGV Réseau were directly derived from the TGV Atlantique and are the thrid and last generation of TGV based on the original TGV design. The Réseau was created in parallel with the construction of the LGV Nord for services into Belgium. Ten units are also equipped with Memor II+ for services into Luxembourg, although they were replaced on these services by the TGV 2N2 in 2017. The Réseau features the same electrical equipment as the first generation Duplex sets (these are included with the route) and therefore feature the same traction motor sounds. SNCF TGV 28600 Réseau Duplex With the construction of the TGV POS, 19 TGV Réseau units were equipped with Dasye power cars and used on the international services to Germany and Switzerland. As a replacement, the Réseau power cars were coupled with TGV Duplex coaches, resulting in the Réseau Duplex. As the power cars come with this DLC and the Duplex coaches being part of the original DLC, this variant is easily recreated and adds some extra rolling stock to the line.
This would revive this route which is needed! sure adding another train and improving scenery are both a must have to this route!
i don’t really see the point in this one being upgraded. very limited replay value and i think time could be spent upgrading a more popular route
Seems little point I have to agree. Passing through most of the route at high speed you are not going to really appreciate improved foliage and lineside vegetation etc.
