Enough Is Enough!!! The Ongoing Saga!!! It's Almost The 3 Year Anniversary

Do you think DTG should be nationalized...?

Now there's a thought...

Tax payer riots....

think ill be spending my Quid on the flip side TSC tsw really seem to becoming faltering thing lately

I just spent £3 on a pack of cards to use as a randomiser for playing TSC routes. problem is though, I have far more routes than 52 plus the Joker! Well the Joker will be go and play something else when I deal it.

y

I am new to TSC but im really enjoying it for what it is im enjoying the NA content ive bought so far funds that would be going to TSW4 and successor. Are now allocate toward TSC .

Since TSW3, SEHS has been plagued by a PIS bug.

According to the patch notes today, they finally fixed this issue... nearly two years later. Better late than never I guess.

Now they just need to adjust the lighting in the Rochester-Chatham tunnel and the 395 flashing bug.

yea. i honestly wonder why they arent sacked when they STILL havent fix going through the roof issue on their class 170... (or maybe its DTG's fault because of the driver seat not being invisible as a system default or something).

since i never been on a class 150 i have zero idea what the 150 sounds, but the fact that i cant even couple the bloody thing with another 150, 158 nor 170 i am honestly livid because its unplayable. It can move and thats it. Not only that we dont even get other Scotrail fleet yet, and just like the GWR 4 car hst being used as inter7city, which they shouldve got license by now (i am sure scotrail dont mind with how many scotrail stuff is here...)

U think is it a good idea to ask them in the next qna section of the August stream? I have asked some developer on stream before and all they said was "not in planning" or something similar.

Tbh is it possible to have a 3rd party from the US to make stuff for TSW like rivet or JustTrains etc? cuz otherwise the US is only ever only getting nothing.

I wonder if there's a patch for the SEHS random blue screen crashes on PS4?

I expect it still occurs with TSW4 version.

Yeah I do feel bad for the US. Honestly surprised there isn't a third party for it already.

It's quite clear DTG's focus is now England, Scotland and Germany. With the US being given a token DLC every now and again, and a different country getting a DLC to try and break into that market.

I think the suspension is already ready, but they just hold it back to make it a selling point for TSW 5.
At least I would do so. Their marketing has been always quite 'creative'.

Which does surprise me given this statement made some time ago during the Focus acquisition of DTG-

"As a business we are ambitious and we believe that Focus’ publishing and distribution power will amplify our own talents as a digital publisher, allowing us to grow in key markets such as North America with access to a wider network of resources and new monetization opportunities."

That’s before DTG bottled out on North American freight, despite it going from strength to strength in TSC.

Tbh is it possible to have a 3rd party from the US to make stuff for TSW like rivet or JustTrains etc? cuz otherwise the US is only ever only getting nothing.

they are probably speaking bulls... that or just that US is honestly SO focused on heavy freight to the point that DTG just given up on it. I mean seriously how many times do i need to see the same type of freight locomotive on the front. Also in the UK theres the Class 66.

I don’t see JT doing anything in house for US, never been an area covered by them in TSC. And Rivet, I wouldn’t trust them to do a reasonable representation of our local park miniature railway, let alone a Class One US Railroad. And even if third parties do get involved, likely to face the same problems of access for research as DTG have found. So best you could hope for is a likeness built off Google imagery, whatever track charts and gradients are in the public domain and existing stock - still all subject to licensing.

I find enough is enough that some brainiacs print BR 101 expert manual wasting hundreds of paper pages. It so bad for enviroment. They can have PDF manual in their smartphone, CTRL+F to find how to repair fault on loco.

I don’t see the problem. I will print it too, a paper copy is not the same as a pdf when it comes to studying and annotating. So, I don’t understand why the paper would be wasted. On the contrary, it will be used intensely.

Thats why im to the conclusion that its looking more unlikely that NA freight will ever be much in future in TSW my advice if you are console only is break the mold and get access to a pc or gaming pc or invest in one prob for not much more than the cost of a console you could buy a decent refurbished pc or lap top to play TSC and the other train sim s that do have and add new NA freight routes and content .,also no game is perfect each has perks and quirks .i have shifted over to TSC and trainz for my NA fix since tsw seems to not want to do NA freight anymore

I'm pretty sure the environmental impact of reading the manual off of paper will be lower than having to recharge your smartphone because you are using it as a PDF reader.

Not if you have to print it more times! Raph has already confirmed that it will have the ZDE included in a newer version so its not a big deal to print but wait a little, a month or 2 after release and print it then.

There marketing dept isn't creative. They make it up every day. Don't think they have a clue what they're doing and TBF they're struggling cause of the promises they're making that the dev team can't hold up.

Agreed. Most paper these days is made from sustainable sources and now and again it’s nice to read something not on a VDU or tablet screen. Otherwise you could apply the same reasoning to books and bully people into no longer buying books or borrowing from the library to save on printed material.

when i mentioned the 2, i was just listing out 3rd party examples.

they should just change the name to Passenger Train Sim World or even EMU DMU Train Sim world

I think people should be allowed to view a document on a smart device or on paper, as they prefer. However, claims like this which seek to discourage people from doing things in an environmentally friendly way, should be challenged. The production of paper is massively energy-intensive. Even if you measure environmental impact only in terms of energy consumption, the amount of energy used in making and transporting the paper is vastly in excess of the energy you will ever use in looking at the document on a smart device.

o

Ok i did see that there were some other response s that got in over , DTG has soupposedly enlist High iron simulations to do some US freight stuff starting with a retro Santa fe dlc and poss a new route hopefully freight .i just hope HIS does good with it to give back confidence in NA freight again .but its going to be a while before this sees light of day..they went too long without giving more NA freight

I see it like suspension update coming alive in beggining of next week.

but you can grow trees, can’t you?

So there Fall Rain from the sky so you can waste water?! Thats a bit tricky i think

well trees aren’t impossible to grow, you can easily plant trees.

there is a difference between normal use and over consumption. we see that very well with the climate at the moment.
and unnecessary paper consumption is overconsumption if you asking me

I don’t understand why people are so upset over printing pieces of paper, when there are much much bigger things to worry about. Get a grip

I have no issues to print in general but if the developer ask to wait and people ignore that or they can expect changes than im a little angry about so much waste... Printing is fine but do it if its acceptable i think

Well a tree destroyed my house when I was a kid so I guess it’s payback time

Hello again. I took a little time away from the forums because I kind of wanted to reboot and just concentrate on gaming without any social media distractions...and yeah, it's made a refreshing change just playing online with friends and offline with a few different sims.
But I thought I'd call back and see what's new in the world of trains.

First up, congrats to everyone for reaching a staggering 114 pages (I think it was 95 last time I looked). I'm truly gobsmacked that this thread is still going strong.

The other two things that caught my eye were the TSW5 leak and (ouch) a £30 train.
The leak isn't really a point of discussion though because I'm someone who is bound by an extremely strict NDA so I kinda get it when a position of trust is abused to the point where it becomes a detriment to the company who enforced the rules, so on this occasion I do sympathise with DTG because although we all knew TSW5 was going to happen, the contents of this leak has definitely spoiled the moment. On a light-hearted note though, at least they'll save a few quid by not needing the 100 piece orchestra

The £30 train is a different animal though and in response to the bizarre price I'm going to borrow a quote from spikee:

Lowering prices DOES increase customers because judging by multiple comments within these forums most people wait for a sale before making their purchase/s - and if this trend also extends into the big wide world then I could confidently argue that lowering prices via a sale will easily more than double the userbase of any given addon, thus making it highly applicable in a train sim.
So why not just make the train in question £14.99 and give everyone the opportunity to sample it whilst it's still an innovative product that's fresh in peoples' minds? Not only that, the non-hardcore section might also say "you know what, at that price I might give this a try".
It sounds a bit radical but surely it's a far better idea that locking it behind a price tag that only appeals to an extreme minority of the TSW userbase.

Maybe, but we shouldn't think that we can dictate the prices, that's just not how free market economy works. The customer has the right to accept or refuse the offer, or wait for a sale.

Prices have two sides - the production cost (fixed) and expected sales (and DTG have the numbers, not we) vs value for the customer (individual and subjective).

All I'm saying is that you wouldn't complain about the price of a product in a supermarket, if it's too high you'd just leave it on the shelf - that's how it works. The manufacturer will then decide what's best to sell the product, based on facts (number of sales) and not opinions ("It's too expensive!").

Of course we can voice our opinions, but companies are employing people to do the calculations which have some knowledge of market economy and costs involved in a product. And my point is that people underestimate the amount of manhours that went into the Expert 101, that's all.

DTG is not Jeff Bezos.

True, my whole idea of stuff like this is that it's pointless, as long as there are thousands of jets in the sky, all these factories in places like china and of course all the forests being chopped down in the first place, that is where the real issue lies. What you decide to do with some paper isn't going to change anything at the end of the day.

Thats the correct point here! People they say "im waiting for a sale" its not really relevant. I think this addon will take a long time before it will in sale. They have already written that this product is in price to low in comparison with the amount of work.

Sorry a little dumb logical explanation i think....

When Shell is waste 1000l of oil thats a good excuse to waste more in your'e own environment...

Yes, you as a manufacter can decide if prices are subject to negotiations, or fixed (+ the regular sales). If you choose so, you can release your software as donationware for example, but that's not how you can run a company producing DLC for a few thousand players, not millions that allow a lower price per DLC.

Not only that: Smartphones don't grow on trees, they have to be produced. And that leaves quite an energy and environment footprint behind. Let alone the toxic time bomb a cell phone becomes when you want to get rid of it.

If you think it through ......... E2E, that is.

From: https://www.goodtech.co.nz/blogs/news/how-much-energy-does-it-take-to-make-an-iphone

It's not really about dictating prices, it's more about making a game as appealing as possible to as many as possible. After all, the more you get on board, the more money you make. And no, I'd never complain about the price of anything in a supermarket because I know that they've adopted the self same policy (albeit on a grander scale) that cheaper the prices mean more customers walking through their doors, so I won't get a better deal elsewhere.
At the end of the day it's just a common sense approach of competitively pricing things to increase their level of appeal. At £14.99 I would definitely give this new train a try because it introduces a whole new experience that's kind of worth the will I get on with it / won't I get on with it risk. At 30 though, no. It's too much of a gamble

As I said, be sure DTG has a team that has actual numbers . They are offering sales on a regular basis, and as much as people want to have everything cheap, it's just not working (and would lead to a market devoid of any products eventually, because of getting unattractive for developers. I am convinced this is the first and last Expert loco for TSW, because you can sell stuff with a lot less amount of work involved.)

To assume we know better than DTG who managed to grow and survive in the brutal Entertainment Industry is a bit, presumptuous imho.

I'm happy that thanks to Raph' and cwf.green, people are getting some insight into the development process and some even starting to appreciate it. And finally, appreciation is not about giving Likes, but giving your money for the product. Money in exchange for time the devs took, while they could have spent their time on developing something cheap for the masses.

And halving the price will not double the customers. For most people there's no point in train simulations (just running along a preset path, only controlling the speed at which you're doing it and basically just watching landscapes? No steering? What is this about?)

There already exists one: high iron simulations but they are a while off from creating their first route. Remember it took 3rd party devs over a year to make a single route.

Many teams exist in tsc but many are not interested or it's not financially beneficial to them.

There's people using the editor however but even that is a lot of work. All we can do is wait and hope something can happen.

We’ve just got some major breaking news here from the recent dovetail article.

The dovetail direct, could be featuring, 6! YES 6 new routes to showcase.

this direct is going to be massive.

You're correct, I don't know better than DTG because that's not my line of work....but as a gamer I absolutely do know that you can successfully take an ultra-niche product into the mainstream if that's where you want your product to go. You only need to look at Farming Sim and Spintires to see what's possible with a product that nobody in their right mind would ever have believed could generate such high levels of appeal. The only difference between them and TSW is that DTG have chosen to lock their prices in such a way that only the dedicated few will ever show a lasting interest in their product.

If that's their aim then hat's off to them, they've done an excellent job ensuring that, going forward, 'through the nose' will be their only pricing policy.

Thats great news and a large amount.

Counting down the seconds, is there 6 One handle EMUs left to do....?
