Written by: Gary Dolzall. Now available, Northeast Corridor Scenario Pack 01 delivers the extraordinary vigor and diverse railroading of the “NEC” between New York City and Philadelphia! READ MORE
Has the Northeast Corridor Route been updated in recent years? It was one of the first US Routes I got when I had TS2012 and looks dated compared with New York - New Haven. Peter
It was more of a big fix than anything else. There nay have been some very barely noticeable difference in scenery upgraded, if there any. It was taken off of steam for a quite a number of months. Far too long to have been given what we got when it returned. It's definitely a route that begs to be redone over completely. In the standard to which was done on the NJCL. Which showcased how beautiful and far more ”accurate” the corridor could actually look and be. Which could be extended off the NJCL or the Morristown town extension. The NJT equipment as well as the upgraded Acela available deserves a far better looking NEC.
This scenario pack* really highlights how outdated the original NEC route looks. If DTG can fully redo the Portsmouth Direct, why not the NEC? "The fan-favourite Portsmouth Direct Line is remastered in spectacular detail featuring extensive re-engineering works over the entire route. This remaster also features an additional 20 miles of extra railway extending the route all the way to London Waterloo." NEC desperately needs this treatment. It isn't just the scenery that is horrid, it's the trackwork and track layout, in many cases just plain wrong (and fixed in the NJCL)! DTG, redo the NEC with correct trackwork and scenery/detailing on par with the NJCL. Throw in the Princeton branch and you've got a no-brainer purchase. *Re: the scenario pack. Are there no penalties for overspeeding in these scenarios? Is that another limitation of this route?
Exactly, And they could just work right off of the NJCL/Morristown route. I would pay 40 bucks for a NEC route done right.
