The R32 is a five & a half decade old 60-foot BMT/IND (B division) subway married car set started with 1964 until 2020 [that's their retirement] is for letters only. A, B, D, E, F, N, Q, R, and W trains carried a ten-car set. C, G, J, L, M, and Z are carring eight-car set, Rock Park Shuttle with four-car set. Once the Canarsie or Jamaica Line route is released, DTG should released that legendary subway fleet. That line can play in eight-car set. Now, it's finally retired. https://wikipedia.org/wiki/R32_(New_York_City_Subway_car) R32 on the A @ 80th-Hudson Sts. Inside the interior of the R32
This train is a BEAST, and is my favorite piece of rolling stock on the subway today. The C train that I rode this afternoon consisted of R32s, and I always feel lucky when they turn up for my trip. The lines on the side, the no-nonsense bulkheads, the pantograph gates...these trains are the last vestiges of Old New York, and embody a toughness and class that only New York can exude. I will be heartbroken to see them go over the next couple of years as they are replaced by the R179 / R211s. As a side note (correct me if I am wrong) - I don't believe the R32 ever ran in passenger service on the Canarsie Line. Per nycsubway.org (link below), prior to conversion to CBTC, the Canarsie ran R7, R9, R16, R27, R30, and R40/42s immediately before the R143/160s made their appearance in 2002-2003. DTG has to add a NYCT DLC but picking the route will be the trouble since there are so many subway lines.
They used to though. That’s why I mentioned them. I remember when they used to run on the A. I was suggesting a Route set before the modern day. And besides, SIR is owned and ran by the MTA.
