This is all hugely exciting. I feel so much better about this than I did for TSW4.

 

Really looking forward to driving the Class 87 in the game and using in on free roam charter trains.

The route hopping feature is interesting, perhaps will it become route merging one day

 

I would be interested to know what is happening with our TSW4 routes/save files etc.

 

I didn’t catch whether WCML South included the DC Lines. They mentioned a Bakerloo crossover but not sure if that means the DC Lines as far as Watford Junction will be included (including the Watford High Street section) and being able to drive the 710 if we own Goblin Line. I hope so.

 

They will be transferred over to TSW5 if you buy it

The deluxe doesn't seem as good value as TSW4, £18 for one new loco and one reskin.

Hey Dovetail gang, congrats on the stream. Got me genuinely excited for what's to come with Train Sim World 5. And good move on the free starter pack approach; I'd like to think (and hope) that gesture goes some way for the community.

It's cool to see 'RailDriver Desktop Controller Support' mentioned on the new FAQ page. Have there been improvements/changes to this from TSW4?

 

A free update to TSW 5 to everyone would be great (albeit only for 30 days), just like what Train Simulator Classic (ex-Railworks) have done over the years. But you would not receive the free routes, but!

Anyway, there has been a few exciting TSW routes announced on the way which is well needed. WCML finally coming to TSW, not one, but two. Plus Class 390 Pendolino!

Dovetail Games is bringing out Train Sim World VR, set in New York, plus many more.

The only disappointment is that nothing was announced for Train Simulator Classic, but that was to be expected when DTG is to bring out a new version of TSW.

 

It wasn't. It was just placed on the roadmap graphic at the very end, very easy to miss. Athena simulations, I think it was.

 

Let the outrage begin. US players getting the worst deal in this. One new route which was previously announced for TSW4 but is now the core route for TSW5. No new locos since we already had the MP36 and F125. And deluxe edition includes Cajon Pass which many US players already have. The decline in US content continues.

Yeah, US players do not have a lot of new content. But at least there is a free upgrade, good Job! But what happened to Austria? Didn't DTG want to build it into a new "big" country?

 

Trying to keep up with the information, but cannot find a source or detailed information on the GWE Remaster (plus possible loco DLC) and the Cardiff Valley network. Everything is getting scattered all over the place.

DTG Alex is there any way the pertinent information can be appended to one of the locked FAQ threads so it's easy to digest.

I see now there is a Dutch route coming too which is excellent but following reveals on the presentation, needs to be hard written down somewhere.

Plenty of time for that, they'll be several new addons throughout the year I'm sure.

 

Looks like I'll be playing on Game pass and buying the content in a sale.

 

As expected DTG will be getting £60 from me for the Deluxe Edition and also as expected the discount on PS5 is for PS Plus only so no discount for me. The Deluxe Edition is the only real option as WCML needs the 390 and the Flixtrain Vectron and coaches looks good.

New features have to be experienced to see if they are any good but the content looks like a pretty good batch, and plenty of other things to look forward to in the coming months. A lot of people like me are going to see the Just Trains route as the icing on the cake and for some maybe even the whole cake. Class 87. Very exciting.

One thing I am expecting is another DLC price hike this year, so get that second mortgage arranged for all the forthcoming content purchases.

So FREE update means you need to manually grab a new title on Steam(for example) and redownload every DLC from scratch or it will come to you as an automatically update for TSW4?

Actually, on Frankfurt-Fulda, you're limited to 200 km/h, and that's only around 16 km (Hanau- Haller=Meerholz) out of around 105 km, so, it isn't really an HSR.

 

Yes. It’s a separate game and the starter pack will only be visible to get for the first 30 days.

I find the ICE T and Flixtrain great with respect to German content. I’m sad that we have gotten yet another Dosto+146.2 combo. I’d like to see Doppelstock EMUs, Flirt, LINT, ICE 4 to list the highest priority for me.

 

The first one, if it was a patch for TSW4 then it wouldn't say only available to claim for 30 days.

It also means it's available for people who never bought TSW4.

 

Only one disappointment: the S-Bahn route between Frankfurt and Offenbach isn't included, this would have been a fun part of the route, and without it the S-Bahn services will be very short.

So I’ve taken some time to think about the announcements today, and on reflection I feel like this is a massive missed opportunity.

Of all of it, the only thing I’m slightly excited about is the Japanese route.

Every other announcement is a niche fan request and route, or worse still: another rehash/update.

I was looking for some real innovation and excitement, but to be honest, I’m think I’m tapping out at this point.

I’ll carry-on playing TSW4 for as long as it’s supported and when it’s done, I’m done. I might take a look again in a few years time.

But until then, stay classy true believers.

Regarding the free starter pack: Would this mean I could upgrade to TSW5 for free as an existing TSW 4 Steam user, just without getting any new content?
Could I potentially use that to upgrade to then just purchase Frankfurt-Fulda and the Flixtrain set afterwards? Would be a cool option as I have no interest in UK/US content at all.

 

I didn’t see it clearly stated, but the clues to its inclusion were that the ‘special’ edition labelled the Bakerloo and Suffragette Line as ‘compatible’, and that they claimed the Euston to MK route had (something like) 28 stations, which I believe includes those on the DC lines!

 

The Welsh route and the ATS route are listed separately on the content release picture thing.

 

I think it only 30 days for the free started pack. Then after the 30 days it not free. But it will remain free before the 30 days

 

iirc, the vectron was also the Deluxe Loco for the german part for TSW4 and came later as a standalone dlc. Will see if we have the option this time as im not feeling so tempted by the deluxe package this time.

 

If we take the usual prices, a route will be 35.99€ and a loco likely 10€ cheaper. The regional starter pack Germany is supposed to be 34.99€ and includes just one route. As soon as you are interested in any other non-German content, the Deluxe is already appealing with the 10% loyalty discount.

 

The short answer to the above is yes!!
