Yes, it exists in TSC, and is a very good route, which is why I’m slightly hesitant. I very much want to see a tap-changer AC electric locomotive in TSW, Preston-Carlisle is an excellent route with lots of interesting features, and TSW brings Timetable Mode which TSC doesn’t. On the other hand, Preston - Barrow would be something completely new, which I haven’t driven on any simulator.

At the end of the day, it’s JT, and it’s 1980s, so it’s a day 1 purchase either way. But I’m torn as to which route I’d prefer to see.

Then again, maybe we’re all miles off and it’s something completely different.

TSC has Barrow in a (great quality) freeware route.

Would love the Chiltern mainline, even if its only half the route, either Marylebone to Banbury, or Banbury to Birmingham, it would certianly be nice to have the whole route but maybe 110 miles is expecting too much.

Yes, there are lots of TSC routes I haven’t driven. I find it unstable and a bit of an inter-dependency nightmare so I don’t use it very often these days. When I do manage to get a route up and running properly, though - as I have with Preston - Carlisle in the past - I find it pretty good.

Same here. I’m now trying to avoid anything that isn’t on Steam or self contained. At one point I tried to get that freeware Southampton to Weymouth route running but I lost the will to live trying to track down all the dependencies.

However apart from the odd OOM crash on routes known for it, like the NZ Midland route or JT’s Met Line, TSC is running quite well here - smoother than TSW with its pauses, rubber banding and sudden sound lurches.

    Same with Vern,
It's one of the reasons I moved away from TSC, trying to run a route on GEML needing about 8 other paid addons was infuriating. usually ended up buying packs i didn't want, because I wanted another route to work.

I don’t generally have those performance problems with TSW (a bit the first time I drive each route, but rarely after that). It’s odd how one game can run better on one system, and another on a different system.

There are lots of different factors with PCs of course, and I’m far from being the best person to understand them. My PC apparently can’t run Windows 11 so it looks as if I’m going to have to replace it next year (even though it runs all the games I play, pretty well). When that time comes, I’m going to need some advice from you good people on here, because I’ll have no idea what spec I should be aiming for!

In the same boat here with Win 11. Either need a new PC or gut this one out and change enough parts to pass the compatibility check.

The same will be true for TSW, if there ever is any freeware in the future. TSC payware routes don´t usually need other stuff... it´s only freeware.

Not true. I remember content packs, specifically for the AP class 321 needing loads of freight wagon addons. Definitely wasn't freeware stuffs.

Not a big fan of historic routes in specific eras, but I must say that I had helluva fun with Blackpool Branches.
Pacer reminded me of similar kind of trains in my country, having the same construction parameters and it was very well done, seamless experience I would say, which is sometimes hard in TSW, as tunnel, tree, bush or other wall rams into your cab or platforms are grinding the side of your train or be far from it, like in the recent Long Island Route.
Sounds and the driving experience, complete with the station announcement gimmick in the pacer... yes!
Looking forward to this route and hope it will be as much fun as Blackpool.

oh come on, stop trying to be smart with me just for the sake of it. We are speaking about routes and the majority of payware routes don´t come with any requirements. Please, don´t start listing the few exceptions. I am aware of them.

Not being smart, I had the issue, as well as several others on here, that some 3rd party payware addons needed a decently sized list of other addons or packs to run scenarios.
It's not just "the odd few".

I used the AP 321 as an example, as it's the one I remember having the most issues with.

Since you can find a little easter egg of a picture of a class 50 on their Blackpool route i have a suspicion we will be seeing one in the next route !

That's already been de bunked by JT themselves.
But a 50 on the other hand, well, that would be a nice addition to TSW.

Wonder why they have chosen the 87 over the more numerous 86? Still a good choice.

That is gonna be a huge route.. Preston to Carlisle, 90 miles! Not sure what the longest route in TSW is but I'd say that's gonna be one of them..?
    Cannot wait for it!!!!

More details tomorrow! Absolutely can not wait. Now the teaser image they posted wasn't WCML, so guessing we will also get a branch or two as well. Morecombe, Windermere?

I don`t know why, but I am glad they did. As a youngster, the 87 was my Favorite electric loco. Maybe because the 86 was all too common.

Can't wait for this, to drive an 87 through Hest Bank was a dream as a kid, this will be the next best thing!. Morecambe and Heysham would be an added bonus hopefully.

    I have a hunch.

Waggonz has developed the 87 for Armstrong Powerhouse and TSC, however I remember them posting a photo of the 87 rendered in Unreal Engine. I have a sneaking suspicion JT worked out a deal with Waggonz to use it in their upcoming route. It's a brilliant model, and that cuts out a tonne of work for them.

Oh come on. Why the overdone and drab BR Blue when this could have been the perfect route to finally introduce the swallow livery?

Other than that, I'm really excited! This is one of only a handful of BR era routes I'd ever be interested in so I'm very much looking forward to it.

Trying to keep up with all the snippets of information coming out, but this is probably one of the standout items so far. Was always hoping this was on the cards and that BPO was just the warm up to the main event. As noted looks like loco hauled Mark Threes too (though Mark 2 D E F might have been preferable), route opens the door for some great DLC opportunities too - Class 86, Class 81 to 85, Class 25 (maybe).

    Day One purchase for me.

The teaser they posted a while back was thought to be from a branch to Morcambe. A load of us used our Geoguessr skills and got a very close match on google maps.

    Kassel is 116 miles.
    SEHS is about 89 miles.
So it'll be right up there with among the top 5 longest.

It's the longest linear uk route definitely. Beating out ECML by a good 15-20 miles

Don’t write it off yet. If Blackpool is anything to go off, we may well get multiple liveries for the 87+Mk3s

Preston to Carlisle is 79 miles by rail, so that leaves another 11 miles for branch(es).

Well, as Isaac already said they might make multiple liveries like they did with Blackpool Branches... If not, the Creators Club is always a good fall back option

    Morecambe and Windermere, probably!
    Windermere: 10mi
    Morecambe: 4mi
    Total: 14mi -3mi towards Heysham= 11 miles!
They didn't add the branch towards ferries and the nuclear power plant!

Depending on era you have multiple trackage around Carlisle and I wonder if Kingmoor Yard is included?

The beauty of this route is that it's Just Trains embarking on one of the most stunning routes in the UK. We just know it's going to be amazing, once we've mastered driving a tapper locomotive that is.
No reason to not have a modern layer with 66s, 350s and 390s too.
