This route is probably in need of an update, so I have created a list of features that could feature in a possible remaster, similar to the Great Western thread. General Overhaul of scenery, this includes but not limited to: - Two television towers at Crystal Palace, which can be seen from the route. - Better rendition of the M25 - Better looking roads in general - Update most stations, as I feel the detail is quite basic - Add class 700 stop markers to stations - Better aircraft at Gatwick Airport - Runway lights at Gatwick runways - Make Reedham, Coulsdon town (Formerly Smitham), and Hove stations accessible to the player - Static class 700s at Three Bridges depot - Enhance scenery around Redhill by modelling more custom buildings instead of generic ones - Services using the class 700 would also be a must - Uckfield services represented using an unbranded resin of the Rivet 170 Feel free to add more to the list
As the OP of the mentioned GWE thread, I am delighted to see this list launched. Some great items which will hopefully grow in time and be considered if such a project is forthcoming. Well done Concorde9289. As a note, there are two television towers, Croydon (more slender) and Crystal Palace (wider base) both visible from many of the same vantage points. If included, Croydon requires red anti collision beacons and Crystal Palace requires a flashing white strobe at the top.
I would also like to see the route optimised so that there is potential for 700 (or a 319 TL addon) to run on it, I'm by no means an expert but this could potentially be done through newer, less memory intensive trackside and foliage assets. Also the addition of East Croydon-Milton Keynes services run by 377/2's from the WCML, rather than the /4's.
Definitely, though if this remaster was to not go ahead, performance issues would probably be the reason
This is going to sound like a lot - but I think it's broadly the same kind of thing that has been changed for the GWE remaster so here's a wishlist. Scenery improvements and inclusive player workings through Reedham to Coulsdon Town, both of which can be seen in-game as bare platforms right now. Some Tattenham Corner services terminate at Coulsdon Town too so it makes a natural stopping point rather than stopping the services at Purley. Additionally: - Norwood Junction is completely missing in-game despite being able to drive right up to it as part of the entrance to Selhurst depot, scenery would be good for it. - AI London Overground services added using the Aventra to Battersea (1tpd), Clapham and Norwood Junction/West Croydon - Add Hove station scenery and make it playable - all of the track is already laid and it's a more logical ending place for the Littlehampton services. Would also allow the shuttle services from Brighton to be added - Reskin of the ScotRail 170 into a Southern 171 for Uckfield services (AI only through East Croydon area) - Use of the EMT 158 in place of SWT 158/159s through Clapham as AI - Reskin of 350 into unbranded 450 through Clapham as SWT AI
I’d include the 700 depot at Three Bridges being properly filled out and incision of the 12 car unit. I’d agree with Norwood Junction being properly modelled. I’d like some diversionary Thameslink services to Victoria when the core route is closed.
What about London Bridge services that go further south than Purley? If the new 377/2 fills the Watford services, that should free up some units to run to London Bridge. Of course we'll need suspension improvements too, but do guards operate on this route?
definitely deserves a remaster, so many service options ... but also, I would LOVE to have more opportunities to run 387s, either on third rail or even overhead wire ... I mean, those 110 mph just going to waste...
Also, another thing with regards to the timetable, the 07:09, 07:39, 08:09 and 16:09 to 19:09 departures from Victoria to Reigate, should detatch Gatwick portions at Redhill, presumably calling at Earlswood, Salfords, and Horley. That's assuming the route is based on the summer 2018 schedule, which I THINK it is.
I could've sworn there were some Southern services that ran south from London Bridge at some point. Maybe I was imagining things...
I think the only ones we can drive are the Caterham/Tattenham Corner, though from what I gather there was some London Bridge to Brighton trains prior to this route's setting, that would use a mixture of Southern/TL stock
It baffles me why Reedham and Coulsdon Town were inaccessible in the first place - they're literally right next to the main line you drive on. Also, anyone mentioned the missing track at Redhill?
Great suggestion the BML could do with a remaster hopefully Liam will do it at some point after the fantastic work he's done for Cathcart and WSR
