This would be a commuter route set in 1971 and Spanning the approx. 60 miles from reading to Philadelphia . The rolling stock would consist of rdc-1 budd dmus and gp30 locomotives. There is a multitude of freght services. Here is the passenger timetable: both of the needed locos are preserved. Hope you liked this suggestion!
Note, there is already a line closely related to this one, but it is freight only, this one has passenger dmus. Also perhaps there could be a loco and route expansion for the. Chestnut hill branch. Also could include the silverilner 3 and 2.
The GP30 is a nice locomotive to include. I love GP30s, especially because I got to operate one in real life (UP #844 GP30 in Boulder City, NV). Perhaps a Reading RR SD40, U-Boat, or other freight loco could be included as well.
Love the idea but do you know every inch of the line, as Dovetail doesn't, which is the question at hand what would the line look like as a Time Track diagram doesn't show Real Life pictures, and just winging it as a what if I honestly don't see DTG doing that. I honestly see DTG doing a Lehigh Valley to Philly line more because there is more information and Real-Life pictures of the line than Reading area, as Lehigh Valley is to this day the corridor from Chicago-to-NYC more known famous line than Reading-to-Philly just saying.
Yeah. It’s a pretty unknown line, though most of the trackage still stands ( i know because I have seen it) and it’s still in use by Norfolk Southern. If only we had a us dev… (image of Royersford station)
Like it by the way if you set this in 1974 you could have gotten Silverliner IVs with the SEPTA Meatball logo.
some of those older diesel locos look like they were meant to haul freight and are kinda ugly ... modern engines used for passenger traffic at least try to look like they are going to serve humans and not just haul em like bags of coal lol
I set in 1971 so the RDCs would not be operated by conrail. also, this is my local line. i do more trainspotting at the northeast corridor, but i do still see some norfolk southern trains from time-to-time
